Thing is tho' (at least certainly here in the UK) the number of us who didn't vote outweighs those who did so if you put the numbers in context only around 10% of people voted for the fascist scum, many of whom were putting down a protest vote rather than actively showing support. It's hardly enough to put 'em in no. 10 - not that you would get that from the typically sensationalist media coverage. And if it was a first past the post format rather than proportional representation then I doubt they would get more than the odd MP. It's still worrying after all 1939 wasn't that long ago but we are nowhere near the 4th Reich we're led to believe.

I know everyone, quite rightly, has their own opinion but I do believe UKIP are nasty, nasty people. Some are Racist, some are Sexist, on a personal note some are Transphobic and that's what's under the veneer of their public face. Trouble is they are the only ones willing to raise the issues of the EU, self-governance, immigration etc. and that leaves a gaping hole for people who have concerns - they have nowhere else to go. To try and explain what I'm getting at take immigration: The UK is an island with limited space and here in the south east it can sometimes feel like the pressure cooker is about to blow. The demands on public services, housing, schools, roads (FFS it can take me 50 mins to travel 12 miles to work sometimes), environmental degradation and on and on and on...... just aren't addressed by any party anywhere other than UKIP. The result being that the debate gets diverted into a Race/Creed/Culture issue which it isn't. I don't believe that many of the people who voted are whatever "ist" they just have no other means of expressing their concerns. Make no mistake however, under the skin of the party lies a vile blackshirted bunch of primitive fascists who can't stand anyone outside of their narrow worldview. Someone once said: die einzige gute faschistischen ist ein toter Faschist

You all know me by now and I could waffle for England in the Olympics - don't mean I'm right just how I see things.

I know there's a lot of British people here and while you're talking about UKIP, I thought to warn you (and others too) about a populist party here in Finland that may be trying to make contact with UKIP.

It's a party that claims a name of True Finns (wiki article). they're already in EU but made their position there stronger now. Rumours say that they might be looking for a chance to make benefit about creating contacts with UKIP: They probably have two options, whether to 'join' with Le Pen or Nigel Farage's party. (The "True Finns" have tried to stay away of clearly fascist and racist features and resolve in to basic conservative christian and anti-immigration sides.)

There's also a member (who got in) called Jussi Halla-Aho who is known about shocking comments about grading human life and is often described in Finland as a racist and is the other part of the True Finns party than the conservative form.
