Blimy Gaijin, how did you source that ?

I look at a lot of info sites from Poland, and just accept the pop up adverts, my blocker does not seem to be do anything about them.

Mesa smarty!  ;)

I've moved the topic to here, as it seems much more appropriate in this section than in the Everything Else regions! Hope y'all don't mind...
VS

There's another thread in Everything Else called 'By request' which could probably benefit from being moved here...

It might interest some to know that 'Someone like Jesus' was remixed for the 2010 Anthology release. The new version features strings.

Here's the MP3 from the official store: http://shop.newmodelarmy.org/anthology-someone-like-jesus-remix-p-791.html

I'm really glad this song is getting the recognition as an nma classic all these years later, i remember when  eight came out and i first heard this, i found it a profoundlly moving song for a difficult time in my life, infact after listening to it several times drunk alone one night it prompted me to leave several messages on the nma fc telephone answering machine(no messageboard in those days i guess) ranting about its genius! As a songwriter myself i use that song amongst others as a benchmark for what i wish to achieve, but havent come that close yet.

It's one of my favourite NMA songs to play on an acoustic and to sing, it's haunting and atmospheric. One of the best acoustic NMA songs of which there is quite something of a back catalogue so it's saying something

have to admit, since this topic started, I have given it a few spins. Great song. Lyrically and musically

One of my all time favourite songs by anyone. I was really surprised at the time that a lot of people really disliked it. It speaks to me in ways that I can't really explain which is poignant as it goes with what the song seems to be about.

Incredible song i think, one of their peaks...NMA is often at their best, most moving and intimate, when they are playing acoustic, soft ( "nothing touches", "marry the sea""love songs", "green and grey", "family life", "Marrakesh", "Drummy B", etc)

I was really surprised at the time that a lot of people really disliked it.

Really? If i remember well "Eight" received mostly good reviews at its release.

Hmmm, perhaps this could be one for the second set of the Christmas dates..?  The original is a cracking version but some guest musicians could put a whole new slant on it...   ???

Brilliant song and on an album that I think was undervalued on release (sure that was the general vibe at the time) Found an echo (ha!) of Comfortably Numb in it from the verse about "curtains drawn in silence" but maybe that's just a visual trip from the film. It's definitely one of those close your eyes and sway songs that when it's finished leaves you feeling "yeah - that describes the feeling spot on" - even if you're not sure what that feeling is. But it talks to your heart and really even if your brain don't get it that's all that matters. Would love to know the story behind it tho'.

It was one of those songs that I did not get instantly but after ten or so listens it became addictive. Just the guitars and the little harmonica section of the song alone were awesome. Then the lyrics are very deep and emotive. It's on one of the best NMA albums in my opinion.  I am not sure why "Eight" does not get more attention.

indeed!
The best NMA tracks on this album ("You weren't there", "Orange tree roads", "someone like Jesus", "Leeds Road 3AM", "Snelsmore wood"...) are really NMA at its finest and are among the best songs the band has ever written...it's probably my fav NMA album from the 2000's with "High" (and "Between dog and wolf" not far behind them!)
