BWAB already available as illegal download.
« on: September 09, 2014, 03:04:07 AM »
I have heard that on less than one day of it's release, the album is available for illegal download. It's really unfortunate that artists can not even go one day without someone ripping  their music.

Personally it sort of really pisses me off. I buy all of my music and don't do  illegal downloads. It doesn't even seem as fun than getting an actually CD to hold in your hand.  I also know that being a musician is also a job and they also have to pay bills like all of us. This is sort of like a carpenter building homes for complete strangers (who don't even appreciate it) for free while losing his own home because there is no income.

I know that artists are aware of this when they make albums but the day of the release? Come on.   :o
What would be bad is ,if it were an actual fan who did it. That's just a lack of loyalty and defeats the whole purpose of being a fan.

What are your views on this?

It's a difficult topic... On one side, I agree that it's very unfortunate for the artist. But there are bands (and the last NMA record goes down the same path) that put so much effort in their CD release that it is still worth it to buy it. Soper Aeternus comes to mind here. On the other side, I'm convinced that it is just because of illegal downloads that we can still enjoy so much bands live. Bands that started touring again, because earnings from CD's have dropped considerably. And that to me is a good thing.

And that is where your carpenter analogy is flawed. It's not like a carpenter can build one home and then sit back and take the cash. He has to keep on building homes. So why wouldn't a band have to keep on playing their music?

I think it fckin disgusting and nothing more than downright theft
99% of downloaders have no intention of buying the cd or seeing a live show I doubt that nma make a lot of money from the live show i bet some are lucky to break even.
I guess that is is one of the many down sides of the internet though Its prs and police put a few more doors in and issued proper fines not only to the downloaders but also the service providers and stop this at source

The carpenter logic probably was flawed. It was though of after not sleeping for 50 hours and a near espresso over-dose.  ;D

I think that bands expect it now but can't accept it. I imagine that for brand new artists it's harder than ever to start out.

Not saying it's right but TIAGD was ripped and uploaded weeks before release, I hope people buy the new album for the package and work of considerable art it always is thanks to joolz and to have the whole beautiful package signed. Y the band, really chuffed with my double cd and with the bands time, care and attention to detail as always
