Tattoo Removal
« on: February 15, 2018, 07:15:37 PM »
A bit topsy-turvy to the usual chatter about tattoos here but does anyone have any experience of removal?

Does it actually get rid of them or just fade them out? How long does it take - got about 12 hours worth of ink I'm thinking about maybe either removing or covering. My thoughts are pretty much forget it and just live with it but you know what they say: Knowledge is Power and all that  ;D

Personally I've never had it done.  But from what I've seen on the telly n you tube.  It looks really painful n takes several sessions,  I've no idea of the cost.
Results mainly depend on the colours you have,  some way more difficult than others.  Think your always gonna see scaring n maybe some of the ink pigments especially if you look closely. My advice either live with it especially as it's on your back  ( a forget I've got my back tattooed 99% of the time)  n stick two fingers up to the artist or get a cover up if you can't.

Get a cover-up. It's beneficial in two ways:
- you'll get rid of the tattoo you don't like
- you'll have a brand new tattoo that you do like

In some ways I'm gonna agree with space  (help !)
Cover ups have limitations,  your really restricted to what you can get . Maybe we will see anna on tattoo fixers  !!
If you get laser removal , then your probably gonna get another tattoo to hide the scars

But, some scars do look good.  ;)

An old friend of mine, covered up with tats and piercings, he had also brands or something (you know those burned signs or whatever). Well he went on to a doctor because he had a flu. The doctor stared at him and freaked out about the brands; "what a /&SD is that!?"  ;D

As far as I know, you need several sessions for complete removal. Between each session you have to wait 3 months for the skin to recover - just the same as when you get a tatt in the first place. In that time period, the skin heals and the broken up ink is washed away by natural skin rejuvenation {god bless red underline spell checker for that one).  Some ink colours such as yellow are harder to remove, and black ink is the easiest. I am pretty sure I heard that different colour inks need different lasers, or different strengths of laser. Complete removal is possible. Also with some cover-ups, it it is better to thin down the tatt first with a couple of sessions. That said, this is just what I have learnt from telly - so it may all be bollox

Unwelcome mental images .....  ;D

Thanks for the replies chaps. Yeah cover-up would be the obvious (however the prospect of needles again in my bony lower back does not appeal  :'( )  but I just wondered about the removal option. Thought it would probably be more hassle than it's worth, especially as it seems that scars are incurred and a new tattoo then becomes probable : better to cover up from the start I guess. Still, just thoughts at the moment and probably I will live with it and hopefully in time come to love it again and maybe it will get it's magick back.
