Allways enjoyed gigs at Manchester Academy 3,the little one upstairs, although the beer is expensive,The Witchwood in Ashton under Lyne was a great place with great beer aswell,as was Sheffield Leadmill, the first time I went there they had about 15 real ales on handpump, not many venues like that.

Jez, is the Witchwood still going?  In the 90's, I worked for a chain called Andy's Records as a sort of travelling assistant manager and I lived just around the corner in a guesthouse for a couple of months... cracking good place!  Not been back there in about 15 years...

A large field with hills in the background. Chagstock this weekend would be that.

Digbeth Institute in Brum:

Saw Down here a couple of years ago and it was just like rock gigs were 20 years ago: heaving, sweathy, packed to the rafters and so effing loud....  Good times.

I think it's an old music hall theatre; whatever it was, it's a great rock venue.

BUMP...

Gotta say the Manchester Ritz is on a par with Notts Rockers for me... superb venue with a great balcony area and inexpensive drinks!

Gotta say, I also like Chester Live Rooms after the NMA gig last month...

The Paradiso in Amsterdam & The Fillmore in San Fransisco for me. Been to so many top class venues e.g as someone mentioned earlier AB in Brussels. Thing is it has all the facilities that my original choice venues has, except history. Some venues you can just feel the magic.

Sound wise Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam also was like listening to vinyl on the best headphones on the best home stereo system available to mankind. Every nuance from each member of the band I saw that night was crystal clear so special mention.
