Just watched MALEFICENT, a Disney live action movie with Angelina Jolie that's a reworking of the whole 'Sleeping Beauty' fairy tale but told from the point of view of the 'mistress of all evil', as told in the 1959 cartoon...
Sounds unpromising? Sod it, I really liked it. Visually spectacular, well acted and a lot darker than you might expect. Not giving too much away, but it's about an innocent character who is terribly wronged, takes an awful vengeance and then, through repentence and eventual forgiveness, tries to put it right...
Apparently, it's the third biggest movie of the year so far, $750,000,000 in the bank... well worth a look if you like fantasy movies that aren't just about 'good and bad'... might be one to watch if you have kiddies who need entertaining. Master Ray recommends it!
