Nearly finished reading 'When Does The Mind-Bending Start? The Life And Times Of World Of Twist' by Gordon King, guitarist and co-founder of the band in question. For the uninitiated, World Of Twist were a (very) briefly trendy band from Manchester who have a tiny cult following but are well-remembered by those who do (I still maintain that Sons Of The Stage is a lost classic and they had some fine other tunes as well). They had terrible timing, they were a bit too late for the Madchester scene and already washed up by the time Britpop came around although they could have fitted nicely into either era. We've all read biographies of bands who had big success and their subsequent worldwide antics but I've always been interested in stories of scrappy little underdogs who might have had a chance (and how they subsequently dealt with their failure) and this one fit the bill, I hugely enjoyed it and if you're interested in similar things then you'd enjoy it too, you don't need to know anything about the band themselves. Highly recommended, it's funny and well-written.
I don't suppose anyone around here remembers World Of Twist?
