Did anyone who ever went to an NMA gig in Manchester visit Grand Central?  That great rock / metal pub on Oxford Road?  I know some of you have, I think there was an aftershow party or two there, certainly a few pre-gig meets!  Either way, it was a cracking good 'rock pub', a proper down and dirty joint where the music was loud and the people were like-minded music lovers!

I knew they were doing a bit of a refit there but it was confirmed today via Facebook that it won't be a rock pub anymore.  It'll be just another 'nice pub for 'nice' people'.  Jeez, hasn't Manchester got enough of those? What happened to Manchester being a music loving city, we've had enough rock places closing down.... The Salisbury, just around the corner, seems to be still going but I'm hearing rumours that it's gonna get knocked down to expand Oxford Road station... I despair.

They do sometimes come back... the Yorkshireman in Sheffield city centre went from being a great rock pub that I mis-spent a lot of my youth in to being a sports bar called the Lions Lair for many years, before going back to what it should be.

Master Ray, sorry to hear that... Is it the classic case of new owners? ''Nice pub for nice people'' sounds like a euphemism for a boring pub for boring people...

I'm so happy to be back in a night shift for a while! BUT... Have you ever tried to STFU a group of approx. fifty drunken young Spanish people? Christ, what a bunch of cretins with Zero respect to other people. Latest development: threatened them with police and threatened to kick them the f*kc out to the street without any refund. Couldn't help, I was swearing to them. Result: they're leaving, probably heading to some club to cause mayhem. My blood pressure is sky-high at the moment.

I have to say that I have also been feeling...dunno, weird, for a while now. Not quite myself, I seem to get nothing done which I hate, the dogs also feel that and it seems I am letting them down somehow, hard to describe. Not verry happy with my current self.

Tarsier, I am keeping my fingers crossed for things starting to look up for you  :) I have no idea how difficult it will be in your line of work to find a new job but Ireally hope that you do!
