You know whirlwind, if you don't like subjects discussed here, just post in the ones you like.
.
So we all most post love for Michael Mann films. We all must post only in threads about subjects we love. No different opinions allowed in your world. Is it a crime to believe in something different?

you can post your opinion about michael mann movies, but not question that some others like what you don't like. you're so arrogant that you don't see that you question the belives of others in a very selfish fashion and the quote you postet applies more to you, cause you start these things. we're here talking about a filmmaker and you insult that by that stupid comparison of opening a thread about mcdonalds. and you know that and i know that. so go on, the next thing will be you just being ignored by me. at this point i'm really friendly going on with your teasing.
ever tried. ever failed. no matter.
try again. fail again. fail better.

Here's a very nice, interesting book for those who are interested by this director...it was released in 2006 (the year where the movie "Miami Vice" was released) so maybe it's now difficult to find in a cheap price but it's really worth the price, lots of beautiful pictures, some never seen before, and also an interesting in depth career study by writer F.X Feeney...very recommended ;):

Looks interesting, thanks for that!  Did you see 'Ford Vs Ferrari' (I think it was called 'Le Mans 66' in some countries...), quite a decent flick. worth a watch.

I've seen only the first half...but it looked ok, indeed!

MANHUNTER... far better than the remake, RED DRAGON, and personally I think that Brian Cox (no, not the scientist fella!) is way better than Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lector... BTW, you seen that HANNIBAL TV show?  Worth a look...

If you are in France next month, Splendor Films is re-releasing MANHUNTER on the big screen on the 21st of October, many cities in France will screen it...:

Ha, haven't been in France since the mid 80's!  But I'll agree, I'd love to see Manhunter on a big screen...

I am not that interested in film-makers  but "The Insider" was a damn good film.

Michael Mann is talking about THE INSIDER and THE KEEP here:

THE KEEP is one of my fave horror movies ever... great cast and a brilliant Tangerine Dream soundtrack...

THE KEEP was re-released restored in around thirty cinemas in France, on May 14.
I saw it twice in the large room (a 14 meter screen, 355 seats) of the Pathé Convention, this morning and last week! I rushed to see it in Paris before it disappeared from the big screens or was only shown in small theaters. The opening with the arrival of the soldiers in the village or the scene where the two soldiers find Molasar's lair by removing the silver cross are incredible on the big screen!!! The big screen pays tribute to the beauty of Mann's wide shots, the incredible cinematography and sets! On the other hand, in terms of sound, the film's mix is always a little strange, with the volume being more or less loud during certain dialogue scenes.

I hope you get a chance to see THE KEEP in a movie theater sooner or later, Master Ray!  ;) Especially since the restored version is beautiful.

Nothing beats the experience of watching this film in a big theater, but at least you now have a great looking region A Blu Ray!:

https://vinegarsyndrome.com/products/the-keep

Carlotta, who released the film in french theaters, should announce the release of their Blu-ray in the coming weeks, I think.   8) 8)

LAST OF THE MOHICANS... probably one of my top five films ever.  Just perfect on every level.

I was also lucky enough to see it on the big screen a few months ago, it was shown in a movie theater of my town so this time I didn't have to travel all the way to Paris! Like THE KEEP it's another film to see first in theaters if you want to better enjoy the beauty of the cinematography and the sets, and the wide shots! I would love to see MANHUNTER again on the big screen (it was re-released in french theaters a few years ago but I couldn't go) and also FERRARI which I still haven't seen, because unfortunately it wasn't released in french theaters, but only online, on Amazon...I hope one day to see it on the big screen, like all the others Mann films I've had the chance to see in theaters.
