(no offense meant Anna but having been involved in that one I can assure you that its true).

None taken at all - I may have named it but I certainly didn't bring it up did I? More than enough recent bizzareness to contend with without any old crap resurfacing.

like the army used to be before the incident.

Really? That Rusk Hobbit stuff is still alive enough for you to lurk about waiting for a chance to drag it all up again just because we are talking about The Mission?

Move on - life is far too short.

Nothing to do with the Rusk Hobbits, Anna. A different 'incident'.

Used to go and see 'em quite a lot

I did the 6 nights at the Astoria in 88?  (I think)

If I remember rightly there was a Leeds band every night as support?

Also did the usual Rock City dates and more local gigs than owt

Fave albums

God's own Medicine

Children

Got the new Hussey solo Cd the other week and I reckon it's good

Ain't seen 'em for years though
Is is a crime to believe in something different?

I meant what I said at the time that I said it

Actually from my 2014 NMA tour experience I can tell you that NMA have the most friendly and welcoming fans. I was offered places to sleep and rides by many people. I had one sit with me in a hospital until four in the morning.
And if you meant the band members, and/or crew they are also as said above. they by far exceeded my expectations. Especially the sound and light guys. All very nice and helpful. I have never seen such kind and understanding people.

Think what you want though.

@Ray: The Rusk hobbits are a group of fans that makes a shirt and have a  FB group. That's all I know really.

The profits from the Rusk Hobbits t-shirts are given to charity, by the top bloke Stu Turnbull.
There are also the occasional meet ups; something a number of the following suggested should happen more outside of tour time.
All good fun.

Back to the thread again...

I've said before that I really liked The Mission but fell out of touch with them... felt like getting back in touch, so checked out their most recent album, 'The Brightest Light'...

Superb.  Really, really good. Truly surprised about how good it is.   :o

:) I really used to love The Mission but have been out of touch for quite a while now. Children and Gods Own Medicine are certainly classics, I wuite liked Craved in Sand and Masque, too.

I have heard lots of good stuff about the new solo album, I suppose I should give that a try, too - I quite like the title.  ;)

I think the best thing about The Mission besides the music of course, is they don't take themselves too seriously, the live shows are great fun, and they like NMA also have a good bunch of people following them..

One last note... they might be forgotten about nowadays in the mainstream, but they were pretty big once... back in the early 90's, they headlined a one-day festival at Finsbury Park, London in front of about 20,000 people, I was fortunate enough to be there and the five-band line up was...

The Mission
New Model Army
Killing Joke
Rollins Band
Bleach (nope, don't remember them either...)

Now, THAT was a show!   :D

Yay, Master Ray. I was there too !  It was also the first time I saw NMA live.
