Yeah, I know what you mean, my traditional trip to Nottingham has been, for many years, been the highlight of my Christmas.  Even the train trip from Crewe to Nottingham (hardly the most exciting trip in the world!) was something I looked forward to.  Felt rather melancholy a couple of weeks ago whilst remembering those lovely trips to meet with friends, old and new...  :-[

My son came round on Boxing Day so i cooked a Boeuf Bourguignon as i knew he would get a Traditional Turkey meal at his mothers on Christmas Day....................I am now living on my post Christmas diet of Melton Mowbray Pork Pie,Pork And Egg Pie,Stilton and Pickles ,Mince Pies,Dates and Christmas Cake.. ::)......good news is i still have three bottles of Port to get through... :) ........
