RIP Paul Di'Anno...

Not unexpected, seeing as he's been in poor health for a good long while, but still saddening nonetheless.

If you're not familiar with the name, Paul was the singer in Iron Maiden for their first two albums, 'Iron Maiden' and 'Killers'.  And, as a lifelong fan of metal and, yes, Maiden, I still think their first two albums were their best even if they had much more commercial success when Bruce Dickinson joined the band.  They just had a punkier and harsher edge even with the intricate musicianship involved. I'll never understand why 'The Number Of The Beast' (the first Bruce era album) is so highly regarded and was so successful seeing as it isn't a patch on the Paul era albums! IMHO, anyway...

Legend indeed. Those first two albums with Paul are the only ones from Maiden I truly care about... RIP.

I admit that I have hardly listened to Iron Maiden albums after the good POWERSLAVE (and LIVE AFTER DEATH) but I agree with you the album that I prefer from Maiden is the excellent KILLERS with some superb songs like the title track, "Killers in the rue Morgue" or "Wrathchild". It is an album that has a lot of pleasant energy, "Punk" indeed and obviously Steve's bass lines and Paul's aggressive singing contribute to the success of this album. RIP Paul.
