Also on 'winter' I guess I miss the angry political aspects. OK, burn the castle, but thats about it.

??? Burn the Castle, Part the Waters and Die Trying are all very political, with the latter two both addressing the refugee crisis in Europe from a human perspective, much like 'Imperial Day' did on Carnival.

It's interesting that BDAW should resonate so strongly with you, because on the above criteria, I would say that BDAW is NMA's least political album ever.
I meant what I said at the time that I said it.

for me, 'eyes get used to the darkness'.  'drifts' would be the next in line for me.  outside those 2, i go back to each and every song on winter, time and time again.
bah.  humbug.

You're very right, I was thinking the same thing earlier today. I guess the political does transcend into the personal, and into the emotional eventually. I still stick with 'there's to much catchy conventional', after having the album on for (most of) 30 km of bike commuting today, but yeah... it does grow on me I have to say. Part the waters does, strogoula does.

I don't like Drifts...some nice sounds there but they do not turn into a song...

After three gigs I must say that the live version works pretty well :)

After three listens, "Beginning"

Knew at the time I would end up completely changing my mind on this. Now love the powerful song "beginning". Well and truly confirmed after hearing it live and loud at Rock City.

The version at Rockers was just terrific... not one of my favourites on the album, but it really came to life for me last night!

It's too early for me to say what's the least favourite on the album. We've just received it last week.

I found the first half on the album very fascinating and immediately loved the somewhat dark and punchy sound. Melancholic beauty that evolves after each song. Masterpiece, again.
