We have had least favourite threads in the past n no one has bothered. I get the beginning thing, its a slow broody track that slowly builds. Think its gonna work really well live when you get the full power of the song. Yes for sure I hate to some what demean the bands work but everyone including the band themselves will have personal favourites n therefore least favourites

First play through, tired after a hard week, I was struggling. Now after second and third plays I am struggling to find a bad track. I feel they have taken the tricks learned from BDAW and built on it in a big way; can't wait to see the autumn tour.

Second listening through headphones....its starting to register more. Im liking it.

As for "criticisms/least favourites". None yet. However its my money I spent and if I dont like something Im perfectly entitled to say so, respectfully. Otherwise Im cheated out of my dosh!!!  ;D
I pour my heart into my job too, as do others. It doesnt make me immune to criticism either.

One of my current favourites together with Eyes Get Used to the Darkness. Just goes to show.

I think it's the most BDAW sounding track on Winter. Took me a few listens to 'get' it though.

Gives Drifts a bit of time and a few more listens Nick, I am sure it will fall into place for you. I like the way it slows down to a stop and then carries on as if nothing happened.
Similarly, I can honestly say (and not to appease  Sequonia), I now fully like "Beginning". The deep grinding guitar and the way it mixes into "Burn the castle". Several tracks on this album have very good hooks I cannot get out of my head and "Beginning" is now one of them.

No worries always happy to give a song more chances but lupus has it right for me. Just don't get the lyrics although the song sounds nice! Do love the rest of the album though and can't wait to see it played live roll on November!!

Hi Seq.  Thanks for responding.  All the best to you and yours.

Firstly, I don't know if you're naïve.  Obviously, I don't know you.

Secondly... this stuff about 'would you say stuff about the band / songs if they were in a room with you...' well, if it was respectful and they asked, then yes, I would.  I don't regard the band as arrogant, I've met many of them, over the years, including Justin. I know that they work hard to make as much good music as they can and play the best shows that they can.

They completely appreciate their fanbase and don't take them for granted.  So, yes, 100 percent, they are interested in what we think about the stuff they poured their hearts and souls into.  I'm not saying that they would change anything that they do, that would be ridiculous.

Discussing the music you love is not dismissive of something you are passionate about, not for a single second.  No other opinion is valid.  Even if it isn't completely favourable.

Where is the line?  Heck, you drew it, my friend, not me...

 :(

Im sorry - we are not speaking exactly the same language, as you seem to respond to or imply things I have not said at all. I am sorry - maybe it is my fault - but I kind of give up here. cheers.

This is incorrect Pol. I remember threads mentioning sound quality of certain songs/albums, and just opinions on certain "least favorite" songs/albums, and I distinctly remember Jools commenting that people here should re-consider some of the things that is said here because  the band does occasionally read these things. I am 98% sure my brain didnt make up that memory, though it was some years back. And I agreed.

For the record, I never stated that people cant/shouldnt have opinions, and even shouldn't be able to discuss them. nor that the band is arrogant, naive, expecting their fans to love their every note played/sung.....any of those things would be preposterous of me to suggest.

Judging by the continuing of comments to my words, it is clear people are not understanding what angle of all this I am trying to address and  I will chalk it up to my poor communication skills and end the conversation.

To be honest, Seq, I have no idea about what you're on about either... I don't think I've said anything offensive, just comments about my love of the band and how others might perceive the new album?

Perhaps others, reading our posts, might throw some light on it?

Whatever.  I genuinely wish you no ill and hope you carry on with your obvious love of NMA.  If our paths cross at some point, the first drink is on me.  ;)

To me it's about the attraction of opposites and the inevitable frictions that that causes. Totally in love with this song at the moment.
