Help with Covid testing in Nottingham
« on: October 28, 2021, 05:03:03 AM »
ok, sort of an odd thing to post, but I'm trying to navigate the mayhem here of traveling from Wisconsin to see the Rock City shows. A fellow fan who I met there in 2015 helped with what I have to do when I arrive to take a test for the UK's purpose, but I need somewhere to them take a test right away to get a NAAT test result for flying home on Monday. From everything I've read, I cannot board a plane bound for the US without a negative test so I'm trying to work that all out so I don't get stranded and have things suddenly get super expensive by being stuck there for longer than the long weekend.

If anyone can help with testing sites that would be able to do the viral test, but I do need to know how long the results take as that sort of is a key element to me being able to get what I need in time to return after the weekend. Here is the info I found on the type of test needed for return into the U.S.
>>>>>>>>>>>
You must be tested with a viral test that could be either an antigen test or a nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT). Examples of available NAATs for SARS-CoV-2 include but are not restricted to reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP), transcription-mediated amplification (TMA), nicking enzyme amplification reaction (NEAR), and helicase-dependent amplification (HDA). The test used must be authorized for use by the relevant national authority for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 in the country where the test is administered.

Thank you to anyone that can help!

Hello Todd,

try this:-
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/how-to-find-the-cheapest-private-coronavirus-tests-for-travel/ the guy who's photo is on the site is reputable and has been on TV despite the site looking a bit like a car sales site.

Depends on what your timelines are but it seems that it takes about 48hrs for the results to come back by email.

Any other questions, just shout.

Cheers

THANK YOU! This will help, although getting a result in time for my return flight will be nerve-wracking. I had to take one recently and it also said 48 hours and it took longer than that and my test only came back 90 minutes before me flight, I really am not looking forward to that amount of stress again :-)

Hello Todd,

I just spoke to Danny of this parish who's been doing a lot of testing for travel, he uses this lot https://biogroup-laboratory.co.uk/pcr-test-fit-to-fly/, not the cheapest not the dearest. They seem to offer loads of options from days to hours.

Come on Todd, make this happen and let's have a curry in Nottingham.

Cheers

Hey Todd, sorry, can't help you with the testing question, but I do remember when you came over in 2015. Will be nice to see you again, after show drinks in the same bar as 2015  ;)

The pub down the corner? I remember meeting tons of people and getting to chat with Marshall there. Hope it all works out!!

although I haven't worked out HOW and WHERE to get tested yet, it appears there are lots of options, so I booked my airfare, bus and hotels already! So psyched to be meeting up with lots of folks from last time including my buddy Patrice from France!
