Europeans cheesed off!
« on: November 29, 2021, 04:08:27 PM »
I am a bit bemused that next week's London gigs are going ahead willy-nilly. Surely band and management know that there would have been a large contingent of continental and world-wide fans for the Roundhouse gigs. As it now stands, we will not only lose the money invested in flights and trains but also the ticket fares themselves. Is there no way of rectifying this? The least we can expect is a heartfelt apology from the powers that be and an honest regret that people outside the U.K. won't make it to London because of quarantine laws. We are members of the NMA family, too!

I think you are being a little harsh wilf. Border control / covid restrictions are outside the bands control. And as I understand it, assuming you arent looking to travel from a 'redlist' country and you are covid negative then you simply need to ensure you can get a fast tracked PCR test to get out of self isolation.

Put yourself in the Bands position, these are dates from last year, what have they missed out on? All credit to them for trying to keep the show on the road.

Personally speaking I'm gutted to be missing Amsterdam but it is what it is at the minute and yeah it's shit!

That's all fine and dandy but the fact remains that many people won't be able to make it. I work until Friday and flying out on Saturday it would be impossible to get a negative PCR-test in order to make the concerts. I have had three Corona jabs, by the way, so I have done everything to be safe. I am not an anti-vaxxer!

Of course It's not the fault of the band! It's because of the damn COVID!

think of us poor french fans who must wait until the end of 2022 for the 40th birthday concerts in Caen, Paris and Strasbourg...two years later! if these concerts will happen... :'(

Hmmm, I don't see why the band would have to apologise - or even try to postpone these gigs again.

Given the circumstances, planning any sort of trip abroad was always risky, especially at this time of year. Sure, many people from the continent travel to the UK for these shows, I have been on many a roadtrip to see bands in the UK myself, but I don't think I woud have taken this risk.

Also, as has been mentioned, many fans from the UK normally come over to see the band in Amsterdam and Cologne which now won't be possible. Well, Amsterdam, anyway, Cologne...that remains to be seen. Guess everyone is super disappointed - but this is really beyond anyone's control.
