New Model Army - Unbroken Album & Tour
« on: October 27, 2023, 11:26:21 AM »
From the NMA website:

New Model Army - Unbroken Album & Tour

We’re happy to announce that our 16th studio album ‘Unbroken’ will be released on 26th January 2024, accompanied by a first tour of Europe (including the UK).

We started writing the album in 2021 against a backdrop of everything that is happening in a fast-changing world and in our own lives, but of course the process was interrupted by the much delayed 40th Anniversary tour and the whole Sinfonia project. We decided early on that our number one choice to mix the album would be the legendary Tchad Blake who accepted, and who now says: “not much hits me as genuine these days. New Model Army hits it for me. Wonderfully recorded and produced by the band themselves, mixing this album felt like a gift.”

Full of guitars, searing vocals and with the emphasis on bass and drums which characterizes all our work, Unbroken sounds a lot like New Model Army, but different again.

The album will be available as a single vinyl version in a gatefold sleeve – either black or a limited edition in opaque red, and the CD version will be in a hardback media-book.

Our past model of taking pre-orders and ‘special editions and bundles’ exclusively through Townsend has been rendered impractical by Brexit (we extend our apologies to everyone in the EU who had problems with the delivery of Sinfonia). Instead click here for a link which should take you to local sources:

The tour to go with the album will start at the end of February and run through the year. This first lot of shows are in Europe (including the UK) but we hope to visit many places that aren’t here later in the year. Tickets will be available from Friday 3rd November 2023.

I hope there will be other concerts in France during the year even if 3 dates already aren't bad! Come back to Normandie whenever you want (concerts at the Big Band Café in Hérouville St Clair/Caen are always welcome and also why not in my smalltown of Evreux where NMA played at the now defunct Rock festival in 1995!)

Please, bring the "Unbroken Tour" to CANADA in 2024.  September's always beautiful, here. 8)
Any incarnation of New Model Army would be welcome, even if it's only half of the band, or just the man, himself.
It's coming up on 15 years since you were last here to play a gig (autumn 2009).  We miss you!  All of you.

Well my local (Australia) "options" are all download and no physical media at all ;-(!  I'll have to wait till you have it in stock yourselves or maybe Amazon?

I don't see why Townsend Music have to be so bad to international buyers.  23 GBP shipping would be acceptable if they didn't charge VAT (that is not applicable to overseas orders) on the item.  As it is they just want to make extra profit of international buyers.

Hello scobb. :)

True for Canada, as well.

I concur. :-\ It certainly does appear that way.

I'll have to wait till you have it in stock yourselves or maybe Amazon?

As I type, "Unbroken" is listed as unavailable on amazon.com.au.

If you can wait 'til past January 26th, you'll be able to order a proper, tangible copy from the NMA shop.  But I'm just guessing, though.  I suspect you'll be able to order it in some form, from (probably) a good few days / couple of weeks well-into February 2024? ??? Viv, please help?  What or when is the shop's stock-date for "Unbroken"?  Or even a ballpark-timeframe, tentative date will suffice.

Scobb, yesterday I stumbled across the page below while searching for an image of the new NMA album cover.  Not sure if the link will be of help, but it's certainly worth a try, particularly if you're looking to order "Unbroken" from anywhere other than Townsend.  https://recordstoreday.com/Item/9019308195.

Are you looking to purchase an "Unbroken" bundle?  The compact disc?  The red vinyl?  Or, black LP ?  Not meaning to pry, just trying to help.  I'm on the wrong side of the earth to really know of any decent local (to you) record shops.  Perhaps someone reading this, residing in Australia or New Zealand, can further contribute whatever helpful information that they're willing and able to? ???

Best wishes sourcing an official, tangible copy of "Unbroken", scobb.  Drop another note in here, should you still require further assistance.  Someone's bound to be of greater help to you. :)

I got my preorder in for the CD and Black Vinyl. I don't see an option anywhere to order the red vinyl? Anyway, super excited for this to come out. Can't wait!

Hi there, spstreeter. :)

Thrilled for you! :D  Curious, did you order your bundle from Townsend? ???

Here are a couple of links for anyone specifically seeking out the red coloured vinyl edition of "Unbroken".

Great news (for me) that Australia does now have a local seller:

I've bought the red record on pre order and will wait till release date for other formats.  I rather like the Brazilian CD's (From Here and the Carnival redux) as they still have the jewel cases rather than the card sleaves for CD's (I find the CD's get scratched when getting the CD's in and out).

Thanks for that link scobb, I am in Australia too and never thought that JB would have this, I was looking at waiting for the NMA shop to get the CD.

I hope (one can only hope!) that Brazil is included this time around, as we haven't seen the 40th Anniversary shows.

Really looking forward to the show in Göteborg!
There's a lot of interesting bands in the area as well, for example Ond Cirkel or Ellen Ripley should be openers in Göteborg!
