Summer Moors
« on: December 29, 2023, 12:45:27 PM »
On the 3th of January I will be 2 hours 'Spraakmaker' on Radio 1 in Holland. It´s a well listened radio program.
I can also choose one song to play, and that will be Summer Moors. Someone of you knowing where´s the song exactly going about. Thanks.

I wrote about it in my NMA song archive (http://www.ne-ne.de/nmasongs/annotations/s.html#moors. Sorry for advertising my own site):

"On this new album there's a song called Summer Moors which Sullivan explains is a direct tribute to the beautiful scenery and character of Yorkshire. 'But I also think there's a frustration that creates the thought "we've got to get out of here!" We've got to get out of this small town England sort of thing, you kind of feel that as well."

The song ist "dedicated to Yorkshire, brass band and all. It's a personal song. . . it's a ghost story in a sense. It's Emily Bronte. I'd never read Wuthering Heights as a kid, but I had to read it recently and I found it amazing, it's like watching a punk band, there's not a single sympathetic character in it, yet it's utterly compelling."

I noticed that there has been no update to the last albums. Any chance of an update in the near future? It's still a great site to look up for references to the songs. :)

Thank you, MaoLee. In theory I still plan to update the site, and I collect any piece of information I stumble across that can be used in the annotations. But you know how it is. There's always something else that needs to be done first. And the longer I wait, the more new songs come out, the more work an update becomes and the less motivated I am to even start....

Yes, I know, it is sometimes difficult to combine hobbies or certain passions with the responsibilities of everyday life. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you'll find the time again to work through all the albums and lyrics bit by bit. It's worth the wait!

Yes, definitely, your site is awesome, went there so many times ! (And now that the kids are curious about songs meaning, it helped me for that too  :) )
