And thanks for sharing your story/situation. I can relate to many aspects of what you've written, for myself i even see some similarities to my situation.
I don't know how far you are with your concept, but you want a channel with educational content for home owners, as i understand it, and maybe i may give you some advise / personal opinion, after visiting your place on yt.
So i f you don't have this already: you need a new channel with a name, that clearly adresses its purpose " best ideas for home owners" mr. buildingsfallapart' lessons of home owning" whatever you want and negative headlines work better "all the failures you never want-channel"
this is marketing of course, but if the goal is to monetize the channel you need attention. and marketing is how to create attention.
last year i did a "fortbildung" in germany, i was unemployed and made a training in "content marketing creator" and i also worked fo many years in the media business, also as a video producer...and also in marketing years ago....i hate it, but i need to understand it.
for youtube you'll neeed that name and you'll need thumbnails with some explaining text, to get attention. also for the algorythms. you want youtube to show your videos as an example to other viewers who have this kind of interest.
and there are some tools and techniques you can use to influence that.
the best advise ist to have a clear image for yourself, of what your group you want to adress the content wants and needs. you don't need to adress german home owners f.e., maybe you feel like your videos are most informative for a special group of people, you know what i mean?
in focusing on those groups, your customers if you will, you can create your content and give it a unique touch, but reckognizable.
i think you know all this stuff, just wanted to give some feedback, i think the idea for you channel is great. i haven't seen your videos yet, but i remember your island video though and thought it was cool!(yt just offered me a video of mine, from my old channel i forgot about, check out "bright eyes & breathless" a video to wipeout i did...think i got to load this up again on my new channel.. someday)
