I had a great time with The Sheep Detectives last night... imagine if you watched the 'Knives Out' movies and thought, 'yeah, it's good but I wish there were more sheep in it?'... well then this is the movie for you!
It's not only funny as heck but it's also got a surprisingly engrossing murder mystery storyline, some Watership Down style horror and even bits that might make you get a lump in the eye and a tear in the throat. Not me, of course, I'm just SO stoic! Obviously...
It's on Amazon Prime, give it a punt, here's the trailer.

I watched it yesterday and found it really entertaining and lovely and very funny, enjoyed that a lot.
I compare it to Hot Fuzz, both being a murder mystery comedy movie, but in comparison The Sheep Detectives is the family friendly version of it, with everything a little toned down or on the other hand Hot Fuzz cranking it up on every level, like action and humour and suspense.
I watched that one a few weeks ago, I liked it, didn't love but it was an enjoyable sci-film with some pretty good laughs in it... just thought the very ending was a big cringe-y...
I know what you mean and it had to be like this in the movie version. In the book there is this whole background of explaining on a scientific level, how this different being and alien and society could be plausible working.
And yes A Fish Called Wanda has to be mentioned here and i would also put it as one of my favourite comedies.
I've never experienced such a passionate response from the audience in a normal theater, but at the Film Festivals i went to, being SciFi and Horror, there were many moments with interactions from the crowd or applause and screams at the end and i remember seeing Kung Pow and the theater went wild and i fell from my chair while laughing with tears in my eyes...love that, it's more of a concert like experience than watching a movie in silence and in 9 out of 10 times, the comments or reactions were adding to the experience instead of distracting, like when people talk or have their mobiles on during silent or suspense moments.
