Seeing as it's 27 years today that Freddie Mercury died, I'm playing my favourite Queen album, 'Sheer Heart Attack'...

Great choice Master Ray  :)  Queen was the first band I really got into - a few years before NMA came into my life. I love all their albums, but I have to agree, Sheer Heart Attack is my absolute favourite. They absolutely nailed it for the so-called "difficult 3rd album" !

On a trip to Brittany back in the Summer, I became aware of a band called Ar Re Yaouank, and this track has been one I've lost count of how many times I've played since. I absolutely love this ! Especially the accordian solo that starts at 2:26  :) Sheer brilliance.

Thats a lovely bit of celtic sound going on there. When you mentioned accordion, I thought the atypical French accordion songs.
Anyho. Wenn es Passiert-Wir Sind Helden who I was introduced to some ten years ago by a long lost German pal
Hala (from the Anglo-Saxon word "halh", meaning nook or remote valley), until it was gifted by King Henry II to Welsh Prince David Owen and became known as Halas Owen

Yes, the whole Breton music scene is a really big thing, with a mixture of 'celtic rock' and traditional Breton Celtic music, which has many similarities to traditional Scottish and Irish music. Bagpipes are very common in Breton music for example. But they also have some of their own traditional instruments you don't tend to hear elsewhere, such as bombardes which are the high pitched, slightly harsh sounding pipes which you hear in this track. They have big Breton music festivals over there called "Fest noz". I'd love to go to one of those !

I love the Breton music scene was introduced to it via Alain Stivell by a Breton guy i met over here in Jersey over 40 years ago.........then Alain Simon with his work with Fairport Convention and Dan Ar Bras.As you say some great unusual instruments as well, can be very rocky and atmospheric in equal measures..best enjoyed with gallons of Cidre De Breton......  8)

Ah yes, Alan Stivell is another name I became aware of this year, and Dan ar Braz. Also of course Tri Yann, and especially their "Dans les prisons de Nantes" song, which you hear everywhere !   ;D
As well as the cidre, there are also loads of good Breton bieres to enjoy too. Telenn Du was one I especially liked  :)
Actually, having had three holidays in Brittany in the last ten years, I've pretty much fallen in love with the region !

Right now I'm listening to my 17 year old daughter finger picking Pearl Jam covers in our front room. All self-taught, much better than her dad.

Ah well, better get practicing 😁

Probably not a favourite of many NMA fans, but I'm listening to Jean Michel Jarre's newest one 'Equinoxe Infinity' which is really rather good, every bit as good as much of the older stuff... always been quite the fan of JMJ.

A Perfect Circle - So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish

Time is money and money's time
We wasted every second dime
On diets, lawyers, shrinks and apps
And flags, and plastic surgery
Now Willy Wonka, Major Tom
Ali and Leia have moved on
Signal the final curtain call
In all its atomic pageantry
