I love the Breton music scene was introduced to it via Alain Stivell by a Breton guy i met over here in Jersey over 40 years ago.........then Alain Simon with his work with Fairport Convention and Dan Ar Bras.As you say some great unusual instruments as well,can be very rocky and atmospheric in equal measures..best enjoyed with gallons of Cidre De Breton...... 
Ah yes, Alan Stivell is another name I became aware of this year, and Dan ar Braz. Also of course Tri Yann, and especially their "Dans les prisons de Nantes" song, which you hear everywhere !

As well as the cidre, there are also loads of good Breton bieres to enjoy too. Telenn Du was one I especially liked

Actually, having had three holidays in Brittany in the last ten years, I've pretty much fallen in love with the region !
