After a depressing couple of days, I've gone on a great big re-listen of THE POGUES... so much good stuff there.  McGowen might be a complete train-wreck, but my God, those lyrics!  I'm a sucker for a great lyric.

So, just for the hell of it and going off on a slight tangent, my favourite lyricists (in no particular order)...

Not technically right now, but I was just sitting in a coffee shop and they were playing Air's Moon Supply album, and I now have Kelly Watch The Stars going round in my head !
Would it be a guilty pleasure to say I really like that album ?

For the first time in a long time, I'm listening to Tori Amos.  Very under-rated, some regard her as the poor mans Kate Bush but I disagree, there's some damn good songs there.

Not at all  Sometimes the reason something gets played all the time and sells by the shedload is that its genuinely very good, and that's a very fine example....

This morning: Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medecine - the 'White People and the Damage Done' album (arguably as far away from Air as you can musically get!)

I finally got round to getting hold of the most recent Madness album, 'Oui Oui, Si Si, Ja Ja, Da Da'... really good, probably their best album since they started writing new music again (and I really liked 'The Liberty Of Norton Folgate')... 'Never Knew Your Name' is a brilliant pop song, easily up there with the old classic stuff...
