I was going to make a comment about Marillion (probably the best Genesis tribute band in the world)  ;D but bit my tongue as a huge fan of early /mid Genesis..........and Trick of the Tail along with both live albums is my favourite....I know what i like and i like what i know.. 8)

Genesis are a band I sometimes like and sometimes hate (in equal measures)... so much crap but the good stuff, when it happens, is VERY good.

ATOTT, Wind And Wuthering, Selling England By The Pound are pretty damn decent albums...

The Genesis influence is obvious and acknowledged by the band. However, I do like both bands and find them quite different. Kinda like Fields and the Sisters. I can only speak for Fish-era Marillion though.

PS. MR looking forward to your PM

Agree with comments about Genesis, anything up to and including ''And Then There Were Three'',after that forget it (imho)...........and you are right Marillion have never denied being influenced by the band....I was also lucky enough to have seen them at Knebworth Festival 1978 ?..they were brilliant.

Thats a good song too. Both do have a bit of a folky feel to them I guess. And this is where the internet is a good thing, bringing music across the globe.

Sorry, mate, completely forgot about it!  I'll get right on it...

Nice to see a bit of love for Genesis around these parts... as I said, there's some stuff that turns me right off but also much stuff that makes me 'turn it on again' (see wot I did there?  :) )... there's some gorgeous melodic stuff and fine musicianship on offer.  And, much as I'm far from being a fan of his, Phil Collins was, back then, a great drummer.

Well, seeing as Genesis and Marillion have recently been mentioned around these parts... how about Rush?

Just listening to my fave Rush album, 'Hemispheres'...   8)
