I'm in hardcore folkie mode at the moment, listening to legendary uillean piper Johnny Doran. Just 40 minutes of his brilliance was recorded in late 1947 for us to marvel at, and just in time too - he was badly injured by a collapsing wall a few months later, and never recovered, dying a few years later of his injuries.

The Thin Lizzy fans among you might recognise the reel "Rakish Paddy" from "Black Rose", though Gary Moore's way of playing it always struck me as more fiddle-influenced.
