Bilston accommodation (and Manchester)
« on: April 02, 2012, 06:52:48 PM »
Finally got round to getting tickets and accommodation for the Bilston gig, yay!

On this note, seeing as the rooms at the Robin have all been gone for ages, in case anyone's looking we found a very reasonable deal for the Britannia Hotel Wolverhampton City Centre - £25 for a double room, through laterooms.com (no breakfast and non refundable/amendable rate, but still). According to googlemaps it's about 3 miles from the venue in Bilston, so only a short cab ride back after the gig. Website says 'good availability' in case anyone's interested.

The following day we intend to go on to Manchester, though we haven't worked out accommodation for that one yet - on this note, anyone's got any suggestions?

See you all in a couple of months!!

Camp in Manchester!

Can't - only got a day ticket and you're not allowed in the campsite with those! But it's ok, I found a B&B only about a mile away so that's even walkable.

Similar problem Stoney.  Go ticket and room in Robin for Bilston - obviously want to see them the next day at S.C., but on a day ticket that's a pain in the ass come sleep time...  Certainly don't fancy a drive from Manchester to Canterbury at that time of night (nor staying sober obviously either!)

On the strummercamp website there is a google map with a number of B&B/guesthouses in the area (there's five or six within a few miles) - that's how I found ours.

here, towards the bottom of the page: http://www.strummercampfestival.co.uk/siteinfo.html

Inside knowledge tells me that if anyone is stuck and needs to camp over and it's known in advance, it shouldn't be a problem. Don't let a small detail like that stop you coming to and enjoying S'camp!

Just booked the Holiday Inn (Proper one not express) on M6 J10 for £39 (no breakfast) it was that or pay more for Wolverhampton and probably have to pay for parking as well as navigating in and out! Still would have needed a taxi as well anyway.

Holiday Inn about 3 miles from venue so should be cheap quick taxi ride.

Probably driving up from Plymouth on Saturday and back Sunday so may have some spaces in exchange for a donation towards the astronomical price of fuel!

Booked for bilston gig at the holiday inn Wolverhampton race course. Stayed there with work and it's stunning. And cheap, £40 with two to a room, twenty quid a piece. Brill. Little further out at 4 miles, but hell, it's only a cab ride away.
