If you are out and about in Notts tonight, make time to go to Foremans Punk Rock Bar on Foremans street near the cinema complex. A small pub with a great atmosphere. Plays mainly classic 70s punk. I have now trained the staff in the art of NMA music. They were reluctant at first, then I told him to stick 51st State on. He was surprised to find half the pub singing along, so then I got him to stick 225 on, same responce.

Just around the corner is the Turf Tavern. Opens at around 10pm. Good music. Will also play NMA on request.

Oh, mate, found myself in Foremans for the first time on, yes, Saturday 16th!  Went to Skunk Anansie at RC , me and my mate came out looking for somewhere for a last couple of drinks and wound up there after deciding it was far too cold and rainy to walk all the way to The Pit And The Pendulum.  So glad I did!  I've been to Nott many, many times and have walked past Foremans on countless occasions, looking at it and thinking 'hmmm, must check that place out one day...'

Loved it.  Yes, it's about the size of someone's living room and, after seeing the toilet arrangements, God help you if you get an upset stomach whilst you're there, but it's the kind of pub that I didn't think existed anymore. A rough and ready joint that caters for its hardcore crowd and, if you don't like it, you can **** off!  Also, love the fact that they do tiny gigs by people like TV Smith and Tom Hingeley, limited to 45 tickets per gig... I would sell my soul to see a certain Mr Sullivan play there...

I don't get to Nottingham nearly as often as I would like, but this place is deffo a place to go if you're in the vicinity...

Hello Ray, me and the wife were also there from about ten till their anoyingly early chucking out time of eleven. -- the staff all bugger of to the upstairs of the Salutation which has a well established rock scene. Maybe we were both there at the same time? If you plan to go again, let me know. we can chew the fat.

You are right, it is rough and ready, but like all such places, there is never any bother. You can meet all sorts there, skins, punks, the lot. All rub along just fine, I often finding myslef dancing with complete strangers,, all good fun.

Agreed, Shush, I hate the way that people think that gritty, nasty low-down joints that are full of rockers, punks, skinheads and generally all-round 'wierdos' are supposed to be places where you'd get your head kicked in whereas your local Wetherspoons is 'ahem',a nice place to go for a drink.  ::)

Keep me posted about the May gigs...  I'm sure we will run into each other at some point...

Master Raymundo, I"ve got the NMA songs at Forman"s bar of to a treat now. Went in on Saturday night, didn"t even have to ask, they stuck on No Rest for the Wicked. Later asked for Wonderful Way to go, and for some reason, the barman called Paul played it twice !!, later got 225 on the go. The staff were telling me that the previous Thursday night they had Henry Cluney from Stiff Little Fingers live on stage, the stage about 5 foot square, performing to a crowd of about 50, tell jokes inbetween songs.

Heres a link to him doing Tin Soldiers, filmed from the back -- giving a good idea of the size of the place.
