!!!!!YAY!!!!! Culture Shock reform!
« on: July 17, 2013, 07:43:03 PM »
This was the band that living ska-punk legend Dick Lucas fronted in between The Subhumans and Citizen Fish. Personally I think they were better than the other two put together both musically and lyrically. They were not going that long but did 3 excellent albums in between back to back touring. I never thought we'd see them again after the original guitarist died. But they have an extremely competent replacement.

Tour details here:   http://cultureshock.me.uk/

A favourite song:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KALKtBiiqVs

Another favourite song:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mE5Y_GSGwE

Ok one more:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BRmqK5PKNY

They've also been kind enough not to clash with NMA playing in the UK so I'm going to start snapping up my tickets. Once I've stopped bouncing off the walls and ceiling with excitement...

I'd read that they'd reformed as well, which is great news. Shame that they'll probably never get to Spain though  :'(

On a Sunday morning you can hear Onwards and Upwards blasting out from my flea-market stall in the blazing heat  :)
Their power comes from our obedience...

Civilisation Street is one of the best songs ever. Love the lyrics. 8)
Tonight, as you stare at the ceiling again
With your lover turning away
Disappointment closing in
Like the walls... and you try...
You try to talk about love
And they put their arms around you
But you still feel all alone
Wonder why...

You hear the word 'legend' used so often lately about old punks, but in this case a completely deserved description... If I'm honest I preferred first album Subhumans because at the time there was nothing quite like them and the quality of the songs, lyrics and musicianship stood out a mile...  but I respect your enthusiasm all the same !

Brilliant in Brighton!

Legendary in London!

Anyone else catch their recent dates? One thing that really struck me was that half the audience were barely born when when they last played 24 years ago and yet they all knew the words to every song. Never underestimate their place in ska-punk history.

Some of the best gigs I've been to in a long time :) :) :)
