Three rare songs you'd love to hear live again...
« on: August 17, 2013, 08:03:08 PM »
... who knows, if this thread gets enough responses, maybe the lads might go 'hey, I remember that one, its a good tune...' and they might throw it into the set on the November tour...  here's hoping.

For me, it's gotta be...

Modern Times
Courage
Knife

I've seen the first two tracks played live once and once only, the latter never.

One of the things I love about this band is how they usually throw a couple of rare tracks into any set they play...

What you guys hoping for in November?

 ???

Think I've probably heard most songs I wanted to over the years but pretty sure I never heard Nothing Touches or Still Here and would like to hear Gigabyte Wars which was played on the Strange Brotherhood tour but never since as far as I can remember.

All of your songs were playing regularly on the 30th anniversary tour, Master Ray. ;)

Hm, only three songs?

Fireworks Night
Ballad of Bodmin Pill
Stoned, Fired, Full of Grace

I only saw one date on the 30th tour...

Three great choices, mate!  I seem to remember Mr Sullivan saying that FN is a song thats far too personal to ever play live... has it ever been played?  I love that song...

BOBP.... correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure the lads have played it quite a few times in recent tours..?

SFAFOG... another brilliant song, only ever heard it on the Justin and Friends shows... I'd love to hear a full-band version of that tune.

Oh bless you. What a beautiful song. I would love to hear that, mid set, a refreshing rest from the pit. Nothing touches x3

I'm curious about what the split will be between old and new songs on the new tour, especially with it being the 1st new album since the 30th, and feeling a bit like 'dawn of a new era'.

But if I were thinking about tracks I would like to hear but are a bit less likely then maybe Family Life (ie the tram across the city one), and the Price. And they can never play Bodmin Pill too often in my view  :)

Maybe a good idea limiting it to 3 otherwise we could go on forever !

LOVE Far Better Thing! But (again, I might have this wrong) weren't NMA unhappy about that and Higher Wall coming out on their unsanctioned EMI best Of album?  Dunno why, both terrific songs!

Refugee is also a cracker.

Yes, you are only allowed three songs on this thread!

The Price

Trust

Smalltown England ( yes I know it gets played a bit but it's my favourite)

If I can't have this I'd like to hear 11 Years more often
Is is a crime to believe in something different?

I meant what I said at the time that I said it

Still only heard The Price just the once live so that's up there. And a couple I haven't heard for years - Lights Go Out & My Country would be good  :)

I only saw one date on the 30th tour...

Now that's a shame - that was a great opportunity to hear some of the more obscure songs live...

Three great choices, mate!  I seem to remember Mr Sullivan saying that FN is a song thats far too personal to ever play live... has it ever been played?  I love that song...

Thanks! That's probably my favourite NMA song (ironically, on my least favourite album), never been played live that I know of, but I live in hope... Probably more likely to happen at a solo show if it ever happens. (North Star has been played at a few solo shows, I suspect that one's just as personal.)

BOBP.... correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure the lads have played it quite a few times in recent tours..?

I'm sure it's been played a fair bit over the years, but I don't remember hearing it much lately. But hey, if it's not rare enough, I'll be happy to swap it for something else. ;)

Flying Through the Smoke made a rare appearance at Rebellion, I'd be quite happy to hear that more often.

SFAFOG... another brilliant song, only ever heard it on the Justin and Friends shows... I'd love to hear a full-band version of that tune.

Same here, only heard it solo, a full band version would be great. Or a recorded version, for that matter. ;)
