Going to see Toyah Wilcox in a couple of weeks doing an acoustic performance and telling stories about her life & career. Should be fun !

So, saw Toyah on Friday night (having never seen her live before), and what can I say, she was brilliant ! It wasn't a full band performance, as she had two guys on acoustic guitars, and a bass player who swapped between bass guitar, and bowed double bass depending on songs. Their arrangements of the tunes were great. I was totally impressed by Toyah's singing voice though, and her energy, as she approaches 61.
She mostly performed stuff from her first four albums, and a few newer ones, and some covers of other artists. Luckily I knew all the old ones :)
Between songs there was a screen showing film clips and photos from her career, and she told stories about how songs came about, funny stories about the filming of videos, and tales of her acting career etc.
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable evening !

Saw Catfish and the Bottlemen at Manchester Arena last night.  Not a fan at all but as for most gigs this year up to now, I've taken my 14 daughter as she's heavily into her music and also my son made a guest appearance as he's into them as well.  A pretty good performance from them but they don't have an edge to them, if you know what I mean  :-\ :-\

Going to see The Macc Lads on Saturday in Buckley but my daughter won't be going to that one.

Aw, The Macc Lads... sold out at their last Manchester gig, I would have gone.  Enjoy!  I'd post a song or two, but I suspect it'd be moderated right the heck out of here...   ;)

Cos she's not old enough otherwise I'd of taken her as it was an 18 gig.  I had 2 spare tickets which was another downside to it as she missed the wettest concert I've ever seen as the  audience chucked beer, water and even piss over them which they took unflinchingly.  Top gig which was enjoyed by all .

Saw the Skids in Manchester last night for the fourth time since their reformation in 2017 and enjoyed an intense energy filled gig.  They tend to play the same songs with a couple of songs thrown in from their new album which was released last year and also to enjoy is the added entertainment of singer Richard Jobson and his hilarious banter.  He had the crowd singing Leo Sayers "When I need you" after ranting how his release at the time has kept Skids new album at number 2 in the Independent charts at the time, very funny indeed.

Will see them at Rock Zottegem early July. Saw them two years ago in Amsterdam, and that was epic. When I bought the tickets, I assumed they would be headlining. They won't. So as usual at festivals, I'll probably be disappointed by the length of their set...

Yes, it will likely be a shorter set but it should still be a great show. Hamburg was a stand-alone show and they played a two hour set. Brilliant night. I'm now wishing I was doing more of the German shows but time and money being the usual hurdles.
