Dublin
« on: November 25, 2013, 08:37:28 PM »
Hi there
I organised the Koln thing
Now I was thinking to a quick visit to Dublin from Berlin. I had found a flight which lands at dublin international airport at 5.35 pm. Is the airport far from the city? Do you have any suggestions for a cheap accomodation? or in case the Whelan s club stays open until late I could always remain there (may be with some of you?) and then find a way to the airport in the early morning.
Cheers
Simon

Not gonna be in Dublin so can't help you with accommodation advice, but the airport is about 30/40 min time to the city centre by bus, with plenty of buses going - and Whelan's is then some 10 minute walk from where the buses leave you (bottom of O'Connell Street) - in fact there might even be buses going all the way to the venue. So I'd say you can be there in an hour from the moment you leave the airport.

I don't know what time Whelan's shuts but I do know that the last time I was there it was open till at least 2 cos that's when I left ;)

Whelans is a great venue to see NMA. It has a few other areas as well as where the band are playing, after the gig they usually throw all the doors open and we get free run of the place. Better than being kicked out early for the clubbers. Can't help with accomodation suggestions, but there are plenty of suitable hotels in the area.

Hi, Whelans is a nice bar pre gig anyway. There is a nice bar across the road called Against the grain which serves locally brewed craft beers and ales. The downstairs rock bar of Bruxelles off Grafton street opens about 5pm and has a great jukebox with lots of Nma etc. See you all there :) Mark
