Just finished watching True Detective of Sky1 best thing that's been on TV since Game Of Thrones.
We always burned brightest when no one was watching.

Dipple, it's on my watchlist, must get around to it one day...

There's so much great TV around at the moment that (and I think I've brought this up before) I genuinely believe that this is a golden era of TV... I fact, I'd say that TV is better than films right now.

yeah ray, it is certainly a golden era when you see all the silver screen stars migrating to tv and networking programming. its not that long since the move in the opposite direction was considered the making of a star. i guess frequency ups brand value for them

In view of the sad death today of Bob Hoskins, I was rummaging through my massively untidy DVD collection and found MONA LISA... it would have been THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY, but I couldn't find it...

Just watching it now...

'She was trapped. From the first time he met her. She was trapped. Like a bird in a cage. But he couldn't see it. He liked her, but he was the type who couldn't see what was in front of his face. And there she was, in pain. You can get soppy about someone, well, you can't see these things, and he was, soppy sod. She had faith in him. She believed in him. And he had a lot of hopes for her. And there was love. Yeah. She was in love alright. She really was. But not with him. And that's the story.'

I've just finished 'All is Lost', which starred Robert Redford and a couple of oceans.

Incredibly well done.

documentary on tv called American Nazis. I am amazed at how much press coverage they appear to get. Like this should be just simply banned and not tolerated.

WC2 is very much like the first one but ramped up quite a few notches... to use an analogy relevant to Aussie cinema, it's like Mad Max 2 compared to the first MM... put it like this, the first one was a bit slow starting, Mick Taylor (such a brilliant villain!) didn't show up until about 30 minutes in, here he's in it right from the start... with predictably bloody results...

There's much more action in this one, a couple of great car chase scenes and explode-y stuff and just as intense as the first one... it's well worth a look.  I don't think it's due out in UK cinemas for a couple of months yet, but let's just say I have a mate who's a bit handy on the internet...  ;)

I don't watch a lot of telly but I've watched the first programme of this series and am looking forward to the next.

 http://www.channel4.com/programmes/mr-drews-school-for-boys

The best bit about this is that Mr Drew has the parents in school too so he can educate them in coping and sorting out the boys behaviour at home. They can see how they are dealt with at school and what is expected from them (parents and boys).

I have a large majority in my class of children who get little or no parenting at home and at the age of 4/5 are already what the some of you might call "spoilt little shits" where as I'm a professional and I say "they show challenging behaviour"  ;) ;)

Whooosshhhh !!!

Haven't gotten around to it yet, my Witch-y friend, but I will do.  The Educating Essex / Yorkshire shows made it clear how under-rated teachers are... it was something I did consider as a career option, but I ain't got it in me.  Kudos to those who have.

I just watched, for the first time in many years, STAND BY ME... what a bloody great film.  Deffo one of the top three Stephen King adaptations ever made, along with (of course) SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION and the original CARRIE... you may disagree, if any of you feel like going on a bit of a tangent, what other SK adaptations do you love?  Let's face it, it's a pretty mixed bag...   :o

anyone know the name of the Danish crime investigation show that takes place in 20 episodes since the plot if over 20 days? I heard a radio show talking about it and it seems very interesting. subtitles only.
