Caught up with All is Lost. Robert Redford adrift at see. Pretty good film...if a little bit "how much bad luck can you have"

Yes, I watched that. Liked it.  I like these nautical nightmare type films, they want to get out of the situation but where is there to go. As for the question, "how much bad luck can you have", well when its on you, you can't shake it off.

Two weeks ago our Iron , next day the Microwave blew up and both needed replacing. Then the cooker extractor fan. Last week the car failed its MOT , I had to buy a new wish-bone or something. The next day the cooker packed in (jealous of the attention the fan was getting). Now, the crowning glory, Sunday the heating went off. Yesterday the boiler condemned.  >:(
Mate that'd be an awful movie!! You could at least be excused for cussing. Boilers are a bloody nightmare. You can pretty much expect the others to break but not all together ffs  but boilers are big bucks. What a bummer  :(

An awful movie indeed but I am hoping for a better sequel. Got a few quotes, getting the whole issue replaced with a combi for £2k. Can't grumble too much, the now deceased boiler has been going even longer than NMA - installed in 1979 !!

Thanks for the recommendation, DB, been meaning to check that one out, I'll catch up with it over the weekend.

Just bought the Blu-Ray of 'Firefly', one of my favourite TV shows ever, think I've mentioned it here before, time for a big old re-watch... can't recommend it highly enough if you're into the whole 'cult sci-fi' thing...

A good performance from Brian Cox (the Scottish actor n not the professor) .

He's the first and maybe the best Hannibal..."Dream much, Will?":

I agree. I am a bit mixed about "Arrival" but Amy Adams kind of makes the film. I quite liked "Nocturnal animals", she's gorgeous in it and again her performance is very good...the last scene of the film...wow!

A Monster Calls, a bloody lovely fantasy film.  Made me go a bit leaky around the eyeholes, even if I saw the end coming.  Highly recommended, here's the trailer.

I liked it too, it's beautifully made and the casting is very good. The film didn't deserve to bomb so badly at the box office...

So the Sir John Hurt films are very popular just on a certain streaming service ( with good reason) alien, the elephant man etc but tonight I went with the 1970 classic - midnight express . Must be at least 25 years since I last seen it. Still fcking brilliant, put the shit they spew out these days to shame. Holiday in Turkey anyone lol

Checked out Arrival, really liked it, very slow-moving but still quite gripping IMO.  Ending was quite an emotional punch in the nuts...

Just watched 'The Founder', very enjoyable movie, never thought I'd be gripped by a flick about the creation of McDonalds (mind you, I didn't think I'd like a film about the genesis of Facebook and 'The Social Network' is a personal favourite...) but it's well worth a look. As is traditional during my movie babblings, trailer here...

Tonight's film was - no country for old men. If you haven't seen it, its very violent and dark but definitely worth a watch. Currently watching a documentary about alien n how they designed and made . Can't believe that they tore down the set straight after filming n dumped it into skips

Michael Bolton's Big Sexy Valentines Day Special, on Netflix.  Seriously!  The funniest thing I've seen in ages, genuinely LOL'd a lot, as da kids call it nowadays.  The storyline is that Santa's elves make too many toys for Christmas, so Michael Bolton must star in a Valentine's Day special to encourage couples to make love and conceive 75,000 new children... Bolton's got form for self-deprecation (anyone remember him on Buzzcocks a few years back?) but he's genuinely funny here and there are some hilarious cameos.  Highly recommended, here's the trailer...

Finished Vikings, not sure the extra ten or so episodes were needed. Think the door maybe have been left open for season 5 .
Definitely something worth checking out, good story lines , some epic battle scenes. Very well acted . Yes the action dips in parts but every 4 season box does

Free state of Jones. Very good film. Matthew McConnaughey plays a very very good part. Based on a true story too.

Pol mentioned 'John Wick'... going to see the sequel on Sunday so re-acquainted myself with the original tonight.  Good fun and certainly the best 'Keanu Reeves shoots Russian people in the head to avenge his dogs murder' film ever made.
