Looking forward to blade runner myself,  didn't enjoy Spiderman apparently it's based around the comic books with lots of nostalgia hence the ramones  (they done the original Spiderman song apparently)

Marco Polo  (Netflix) - Really enjoying this .

As a youth of 15 or 16, Marco Polo first met his father and uncle and embarked on an epic adventure, crossing thousands of miles of unforgiving terrain, through political unrest and upheaval, to the court of Kublai Khan in what is now Beijing. A Netflix original, rife with warfare and political/sexual intrigue, spotlights the years at the Chinese court and the journeys. A global roster of stars includes Italian newcomer Lorenzo Richelmy as Marco. Filming sites are Italy, Kazakhstan and Malaysia; producers couldn't get permission in China.

Finally got round to watching The Wire. Great show and sad that we don't have any progress on drugs/corruption in 13 years since it was filmed!
We are only here for 650K hours, are you killing time or living it to the fullest??

Just got back from Blade Runner 2049... it was very good, but it could have been superb if it wasn't so bloody LONG!  Two and three quarter hours... so much great stuff in there separated by long patches of ****-all!  Edit half an hour out of it and it could have been the best film of the year, heck you could take out fifteen minutes just for moments when Ryan Gosling (not my favourite actor) just looking blank like he's forgotten his lines!  The pacing is just so s-l-o-w at times...

But a lot of it is exciting and moving with some really interesting concepts that really build on the ideas from the first film - yes, we do find out if Deckard was a replicant or not, it's been left a bit vague through the various cuts of the original - and it looks gorgeous, the soundtrack is superb, see it on the biggest screen you can find.

I guess I was hoping to come back from it 'raving'.  I just came back 'really liking it rather a lot'. Those massive and unrealistic expectations, eh?   ;)

Blade runner tbh I found it incredibly boring,  It looks totally stunning and what action there is,  Is too few n far between,  maybe I need to watch it again but I'm sure I can make better use of the time

Seeing as we're talking about adaptations of King novels, I watched 'Geralds Game' tonight on Netflix... a book I really liked but never thought would ever be turned into a film, just not something that would translate... it was actually pretty good.  Trailer here...

DrummyB, I'd add The Shawshank Redemption, Stand By Me, Carrie, Delores Claiborne, The Green Mile, Christine and The Mist to that list of great Stephen King adaptations...   ;)

Good point well made sir. Havent seen the Mist, Delores Claiborne or Christine to be fair.

To counter your good intent, I offer you Maximum Overdrive. 1st set to me. New balls please

Hmmm... pretty sure Stephen King hates it... and he directed it!   ;D

Apparently he was coked out of his mind the whole time and barely remembers making it (see IMDB) but I admit I haven't seen it since it first came out, so I'll check it out.  It was made from a short story called 'Trucks' whch is superb (Night Shift collection, I think?) well worth reading.

Sidenote about 'Geralds Game'... I've been a horror movie fan since I was a kid, I've seen every gruesome horror flick ever and GG was the first time I ever turned my eyes away from a gory moment in a film (I think it was because that moment in the book grossed me out, just reading it on the page was bad enough...)

Yeah it's funny with Stephen King books and films. For such a fantastic ( and prolific) author it's amazing how many of the films end up a bit under-whelming  ;D.

I watched alot of his films a long time ago now  :( but I think Cujo was a good one as was The Dead Zone. Don't remember Salems Lot though. We watched Christine again not so long ago and it's still pretty good - aged well  :). Recorded Firestarter the other week too so that will get a watch soon. The Stand mini-series wasn't too awful either. Just remembered Needful Things - that was good. Misery, The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile are all classic films surely.

Saw It but for me Tim Curry IS Pennywise and always will be so the remake was never gonna cut it.

As for The Dark Tower well I think the story is just way too big for a  single film and so they made a kinda "Inspired by" The Dark Tower film instead.  Really the whole epic needs a HBO long term TV series like Game of Thrones in order to do it justice.

Well worth reading his short stories and also those written as Richard Bachman.

Will give Geralds Game a go.

Hey, Anna, glad to see you again!  Here's some Stephen King thoughts...

You should deffo give the new IT a try.  Yes, Tim Curry was great in the TV show... but he was pretty much the only good thing in it, it was otherwise a rather dreary thing IMO, whereas the new movie is genuinely funny and sad and has far better production values and actors. And the new Pennywise is less campy and far more disturbing...   :o

I hav to say, I'm one of those rare folks who doesn't really like The Dead Zone film all that much.  The book is hugely moving, mainly because of the whole Johnny / Sarah romance.  So damn sad but rather glossed over in the film.

Haven't watched The Dark Tower and I doubt I will bother.  The trailer was enough for me.  Looked shite.

Love The Bachman books, though.  I've still got the hardback that had 'Rage' in it, which Mr King is trying to have deleted from history.  Dunno why, I think it's excellent and there are plenty of other things you can pin a school shooting on.  Also, I'd love to see a film version of The Long Walk'...

Nobody's mentioned 'Creepshow' yet...?  Classic VHS rental when I was a kid, written by Mr King and directed by George A Romero (RIP)...  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDTpWFGnBek

Anyway, getting away from King and getting back to 'what are you watching right now'... I'm catching up with 'Educating Greater Manchester'.  Lovely heartwarming show, wish I had teachers like that when I was at school...   :-[
