Four Lions....tricky subject but very satirical and makes a mockery of the whole homegrown jihadist. In the samelight portrays their weaknesses in a human way.

Brilliant film, the very epitome of black comedy.  How do you make a film about something as horrific as suicide bombers, yet make it genuinely funny, oddly moving and proper disturbing (the fact that the main characters wife is a nurse for the NHS, yet supports his ambitions) all at the same time?  Chris Morris managed it.  Love the bit about confusion between a bear, a Wookie and the Honey Monster... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l1ZeWEacV0

Chris Morris has a new film coming out later this year... can't wait.

Godfather 111, well where do i begin ?.........having read/and been told what a bad film it is i must be missing something.I thought it was rather good and enjoyed it,i am sure someone will post and tell me where i have gone wrong, and look forward to their comments. Like music and art i know films are subjective, it would be a sad world if we all had to agree/like the same things.

Glad you liked it, mate!  Still not terribly fond of it myself, but ..... SPOILERS in case anyone hasn't seen it...

The ending is superb.  Pacino finally gets a shit-ton of karma dumped on his head.  He is utterly destroyed.  Diane Keaton looks at him with so much hatred in her eyes.  Talia Shire is devastated by her part in the events.  Everybody hurts, so much pain.  And Pacino then goes on to live many years with that knowledge before he finally (mercifully) drops dead.  And he didn't even want to be the head of the family in the first place!  All set to Cavalleria Rusticana, one of the most beautiful pieces of classical music ever.

Shame the role of Mary wasn't played by a better actress, not the directors daughter, might have had even more impact if so!  But the ending is, far and away, the best part of the film, IMHO....

In a film series that provided a number of the greatest acting performances in film history (Brando, Pacino, DeNiro, Duvall...) the third film gives us probably the worst, most disastrous acting performance in film history. Her scenes are cringe-worthy unwatchable. And she's in a majority of the film!!!

Sofia Coppola is the Yoko Ono of the film industry. She, like Yoko, single-handedly destroyed one of the greatest things in entertainment history.

It wasn't just Sofia.

- No Duvall...and replaced by George Hamilton!?!
- Eli Wallach - probably the greatest character actor in history - is given a role of a doddering fool
- the helicopter attack is laughably absurd. What is this, a DIE HARD movie? A helicopter attack???
- the story itself draws no ordinary viewer in. Vatican Bank? Immobiliare?
- the ending (SPOILER regarding Sofia) is a cheap way at tugging at the audience's heartstrings. George Lucas said it best: "It's so easy to get an emotional response from an audience -- just kill a puppy on screen." He's so right. The trick is to get the audience response without settling for something so cheap and easy as killing a puppy (or a daughter). Anybody who fell for that GODFATHER III ending can be manipulated by a two year old.

Mike Bassett, England Manager. Yup. Pretty much sums up every England World Cup campaign in the 80's and 90's.
Hala (from the Anglo-Saxon word "halh", meaning nook or remote valley), until it was gifted by King Henry II to Welsh Prince David Owen and became known as Halas Owen

'The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th Dimension', such an 80's oddity but a hugely enjoyable one. The best film ever made about 'a rock star, a brain surgeon, a samurai and a comic book hero'.  Great cast as well.  Flawed, for sure, but such a fun watch.

Not everything had to be a masterpiece.  Just something that puts a smile on your face.  Trailer here...

'Buckaroo, the Presidents on line one, calling about if everything's OK with the aliens from Planet Ten... or should he just go ahead and destroy Russia?'   ;D

After 20 years I finally caved in and watched the veddy British...

My God, I had no desire to watch this Masterpiece Theater/Upstairs Downstairs/Downton Abbey/Ivory Merchant bore fest. Life of the upper crust of British society and their servants....I'd rather watch paint peel (which is worse than watching paint dry because it takes paint longer to peel than to dry).

But I like Anthony Hopkins and his perfromance is supposed to be phenomenal so I said I'll give this film ten minutes. If I ain't grabbed in that span of time, I'll turn it off and watch paint peel. Well, I was grabbed almost immediately.

REMAINS OF THE DAY is one of the great films of our time. It is what a film should be. It deals with people - faults and all. And not one blown up building, super hero, shattering glass...just people talking with each other. A incredibly great film.

After Hours.  Possibly the most under-rated Scorsese film?  Well, probably not, that will always be the magnificent 'The King Of Comedy', but this stripped down, low budget black comedy will always, for me, be a close second.  Love it.  Trailer here...  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZzb_6LtMjY
