OK, this is a real 'blast from the past'... does anyone remember a BBC 'Play For Today' episode called 'Our Day Out'?  Originally broadcast in the 70's, repeated in the 80's which is when I probably saw it, I think we were shown it in school for some reason I can't remember...

It's about a bunch of under-privilaged kids from Liverpool taken on a school trip into Wales for the day.  And it's superb.  Very funny, sometimes sad, great performances (mostly from a non-professional cast), and, yes, it lays on the politics a bit strong at times but it's a great watch.  Stumbled across it on Youtube today.  Loved seeing it again after so many years.

If you remember it (or not), it's well worth a look, here's the Youtube link...

it is a fine film indeed.  Could possibly have done with a bit of tighter editing in the first half but what a cast, everyone of them cranking it up to 11.
