Just gave that new 'Halloween' movie a watch... really rather good, Jamie Lee Curtis is superb in it and it's pretty well made.  Worth a punt, horror fans!

totally looking forward to it! because of david gordon green and danny mcbride as producer and writer. i so love "eastbound and down" the series, with danny mcbride and green as a director and ananas express the movie, also with danny and green directing.
then i was totally surprised how good alien convenant was, also surprisingly with danny, whom i thought of as a pure comedian, but he must have a thing for horror.. and then i heard of halloween...

just recently saw halloween 1 + 2 again by rob zombie and also can give two thumbs up for those.
ever tried. ever failed. no matter.

Where are you from, Cthulhu? Are you an American? I wonder if a non-American would fully get a series about baseball.

Also, have you seen McBride's second HBO series "Vice Principals"? It's a short two season series and though not as fantastic as "Eastbound And Down," it sure was McBride doing what McBride does best. More than worth a watch especially if you love McBride. But I wonder again would a non-American fully get the series that deals with American middle school.

I quite liked the first RZ Halloween, the second not so much, but they were both interesting ideas about how you can make a Halloween movie, certainly moe so than some of the drearier sequels...

well, i'm from germany and i don't know nothing about baseball.
but i did play it once and i totally hit a home run! but don't ask me about the rules.
and i do know about human behaviour, hubris, the sport market - modern gladiators, american culture and its hubris, so i do get much fun out of east bound and down.
i love the staff, the actors, the writers, the demasking dumbness, the black humor.

and i think all you have to know about baseball and east bound & down is this educational video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnXh3XR9zyM

if you have watched it, you know that it's a game of "honour and diplomacy".

Buffy The Vampire Slayer, 'The Body'.  Truly one of the moving episodes of television I've ever seen.

ha, ha, kind of funny.
maybe i should have explained it more properly. of course it wasn't a real baseball game. it was on half of a soccer ground, some guys with gloves, bats and a ball, more than 30 years ago. someone trying to explain the rules to those who wanted to play soccer... but i did hit that ball and it flew over the fence!

and i don't know vice principals, but another good suggestion.

We have similar stories like yours over hear. Guys get together to play baseball or football (the real football) and somehow a soccer ball comes out. None of us really know what we are doing, but we fake it and have fun.

VICE PRINCIPALS is Danny McBride at his most wild and wicked. It's EASTBOUND AND DOWN's raunchy humor multiplied by about a thousand. Remember the scenes of Kenny Powers as a gym teacher and the way he would talk to the kids? Shocking and funny as hell. Well, VICE PRINCIPALS is set in a junior high school. Nuff said.

The Raid 2 - awesome.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG9uFX3uYq4
Didn't i recommend that one in the horror thread?..it is a brilliant tour de force, the first one is as good and maybe somewhat stricter and dense. Now After "the raid" you should be ready for "hardcore" ;)

The Raid 2 in the horror thread?   ???  It was my third watch of that great film.

Yes, I've seen the first 'Raid' movie, loved it... and by 'Hardcore', did you mean 'Hardcore Henry'?  UK title.  I did see that one, but to be honest I'd had a few drinks and don't remember much about it,  Need another rewatch!

This afternoon, I watched 'Inception', which I haven't seen for a couple of years... just brilliant.  Just goes to show you can have a film with tons of CGI and action AND still be intelligent and mind-blowing...

And seeing as we were talking about Asian action films, I just stuck on 'Hard Boiled', a superb John Woo movie... but still, IMHO, only his fourth best...  ???
