So, who saw 'This Time With Alan Partridge'?  Big Steve Coogan fan here and Mr P is one of my favourite comedic characters ever... still, I'm a bit in two minds about the new show.  Some very funny / awkward moments (and the actress playing his co-host was excellent) but it's like the movie that was out a few years ago... kind of 'meh'...  :-[

Still, the series might improve so I'll stick with it...
Errrrm
I actually really like the movie. Couldnt get into last nights show at all, but ill stick with it.

The Equaliser 2....Not as good as the first one, but still an enjoyable watch. Denzel Washington is a bloody good actor.

OK, this thread is now officially finished. No film you have watched can ever compare to the film I have just seen.

I have watched the most incredible film ever made. Stunning, emotional, jaw-dropping every thirty seconds, painful, maddening... A piece of art unlike any film ever made. No film you have ever seen can move you like this one.

The film is LEAVING NEVERLAND and it is a four hour documentary dealing with the sexual abuse Michael Jackson administered to children. It is a monumental work that deals with a monumental crime. So sad. So sad.

And it really doesn't have to be about Michael Jackson. It could have been about any adult sexually abusing children. The bold honesty in this film is mind-blowing. How the child is groomed, how the abuse is done and how it affects the abused forever is something everybody on Earth should know of. But when you throw in the fact that it was the biggest, most famous person on Earth doing these things...man, it takes the film to an even more horrid level.

Take time and watch this film.

How does mj get away with it, he is still hugely popular, his songs are regularly played. It's like oh well he good so that doesn't matter.
Finished season 2 lost , still very much enjoying it, a bit strange in places but I knew that before .
Will give neverland a go , tho I find it hard watching things like that .

Yeah, R Kelly, Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey...their careers are over. But Michael still on the radio, still sells records, still loved by, yes, millions.

Just a sad reflection on how low the human being really can be. Not only does the film show a human being so low as to sexually abuse children...but there are other human beings who call those children liars and gold diggers.

This Time With Alan Partridge... liked the second episode much more than the first, I'll deffo be sticking with this show.

Glad you're liking Lost, Pol, I loved it back in the day, although I never got around to finishing it...

Just finished the penultimate episode of s9 of 'Shameless USA'... still very good, but one of the main characters is leaving after this series, which I think will kill it... oh, and the 'next episode' clip, basically blew the whole of the storyline for the final episode...  >:(

I've got that MJ show recorded and ready to watch but I think I have to work up the courage to watch.

Just watched the first three episodes of that new Ricky Gervais show 'After Life', on Netflix.  Mr Gervais' output can be very variable, and I was unsure after episode one, but it's getting better in the subsequent episodes I've seen.  Well worth a look if you're a cynical old bastard like me!  Trailer here...

Don't all laugh at me at once, but I just watched 'Mary Poppins Returns'...  what can I say, loved the original when I was a little kiddiewink and thought this new installment, decades on, was a fun watch, very well made and acted.  Hey, I'm also a fan of old Fred Astaire musicals, wanna make something of it?   >:(   ;D

Oh, and I just stuck on my Blu Ray of 'First Blood' in case anyone thought my last recommendation wasn't 'manly' enough...  :D

Deffo  a toss-up between this masterpiece and the original 'Rocky' as to Stallone's best picture (Nighthawks might be a close third)...

Much as it pains me to agree with Master Ray, yes, ROCKY and FIRST BLOOD are the greatest Sly films. More than that, they are simply great films.

What ruins the original ROCKY is II, III, IV, and V. Those sequels are just fun, stupid, overblown cartoons, while the original ROCKY is a fantastic example of classic 1970s gritty filmmaking. That film is raw. That film is real. A great character study about people on the outs in society. When you haven't seen it in a while and give it a go again, it is astonishing just how fine a film it is (and how fine an actor Stallone is).

FIRST BLOOD...uhh, nothing deep and meaningful (those scenes that attempt to be deep and meaningful are laughably bad), but as far as action goes...WOW. I'll use the words real and gritty again. Stallone's escape from the jail is one of the most thrilling experiences I've ever had in a movie theater.

As far as the third best Stallone film...Master Ray posits NIGHTHAWKS. Yes, a good film (Stallone made sequels to just about every piece of garbage he made, but this fine film no sequel. NIGHTHAWKS could have been a series of great Stallone/Billy Dee films), but NIGHTHAWKS is not Stallone's third best. That honor goes to PARADISE ALLEY. A sibling of ROCKY -- gutter people wanting a bit more out of life - the film is entertaining and touching. Great film. Little known, but still great.
