Of course we won --- we are USA! USA!

Better luck next time. Actually you will need a hell of a lot more than luck to beat us.

Quite surprised how much I enjoyed the Elton John biopic 'Rocketman', I can't say I'm a fan (although I do like some of his 70's stuff, c'mon, who doesn't like Tiny Dancer  ;D) but it was a pretty good film, great performances.  And unlike the recent Queen film, it didn't gloss over the more hedonistic aspects of his life... trailer below.

Very good artist when he first started out, up until 1976ish. Cant say im that bothered to go watch it though.

Daddys Home 2....a load of saftness but I enjoy it.
Hala (from the Anglo-Saxon word "halh", meaning nook or remote valley), until it was gifted by King Henry II to Welsh Prince David Owen and became known as Halas Owen

Hey, I didn't 'go and see' Rocketman if you know what I mean...  ;)

Hated the first DH film, but the talents of Gibson and Lithgow made the second one moderately enjoyable.

Ferrell and Wahlberg are a very funny duo! I have seen "The other Guys" so often and it keeps being funny. Daddys Home had its moments, was a nice comedy and the second part was also watchable, but The other Guys is a blast.

I've just seen "Holmes & Watson" with Will Ferrell and John C. Riley and found it very, very funny. I would have to say, that "Stepbrothers" by this team is better, has more class and story and a better ensemble with funny side storys, but nevertheless was "Holmes & Watson" the silly, stupid, slapstick comedy i do love.

The Other Guys is brilliantly funny. One of my favourites. Im going to have to give Holmes and Watson another try but struggled with it

Here's what i wrote on letterboxd about it:

Just think, that if you would have seen this before Stepbrothers, you would have said:
"Hey, this was funny...Get out of Town!..I laughed my ass of..A bit slapsticky and very silly, but those guys are marvellous and hillarious to watch."

And then you would have seen Stepbrothers and you would have said:

"Damn, this was even way better than Holmes & Watson! Got more story and kind of deeper characters and a brilliant ensemble and side storys, but still as silly as can be and bloody funny..I mean Get out of Town!"

So i changed the order of watching those in my brain, via a time-machine app: "Viewing-Order-MishMash-Mindfuck-Madness" and ran it on "comparison mode: off".
Check it out!

YESTERDAY

Fantastic time at the movies. Light and airy and funny (with some effective poignant moments here and there).
And, yes, the joke about Oasis is the laugh of the year.

It's definately worth a second watch. I must admit that the first time, when i started the movie, i went and tried to change my audio and language options and checking if the disc was faulty for about 20 minutes...and then i laughed;-)

I don't think i want to see Yesterday but i totally would go for:

(Beware, may contain some Yesterday spoilers. But this is so well put together and if you have some knowledge about GWAR it's hillarious.)

Ah, John Wick 3 -  every bit as cheerfully ridiculous as the other two movies with action scenes as balletic as John Woo at his finest.  Good stuff, trailer here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pU8-7BX9uxs

I liked that one too! It had all the John Wick WTF? moments, this marvellous choreography in the long planned sequences, which make John Wick so special. It was Keanu Reeves stunt double and martial arts instructor Chad Stahelski, who owns the firm 87eleven which have specialised in practical stunts, who made his debut with John Wick as a director. And what a debut! You can see and feel, that this guy knows everything about stunts and fights and even how to make it look so kinetic on film.
Another thing that makes John Wick so different to many action movies is that Keanu Reeves really does ALL the stunts himself! He even drove that car like you see it! So everything looks so direct, because you don't have to plan the sequences for cuts where the stund double takes over and you have to show the action from behind or get a very close-up to hide the action.

I gave Alita - Battle Angel a go.  It's been in development for nearly a couple of decades and was supposed to be James Cameron's follow-up to that bloody film he made about a ship, but he got distracted by the 'Dances With Blue Aliens' movie and never got around to directing it himself... now passed onto Robert Rodriquez (Sin City, From Dusk Til Dawn).  Based on a Japanese anime that I vaguely remember seeing in the 90's on VHS, it's... well, pretty good, very cheesy in places but has a bit more heart than many of the CGI shitbusters that clog our cinemas.  Worth a punt if you're not after watching anything terribly deep, trailer below...
