someone like jesus
« on: April 29, 2014, 09:17:12 PM »
every time i go up the other boards i get a nosebleed. so posting this here. and anyway, some of the folks around here know so much. in the other thread i posted this

someone like jesus is just drink me mad right now.

some parts just resonate. what is it based on? like, who is the hero? i know they say that all characters are fictitious but there is detail in this that you would truly have to know someone to understand.

so as not to derail a thread....i've started one
you think you're alive motherfucker?
you're just the walking fucking dead.

I think it's a kind of key song and I think it's the best song that I have written for over ten years. You know when you sometimes meet people who are very good or when you are in a situation that is full of love and good things and there is something in you and you don't know what it is that makes you want to tear it all down or do something really bad or something very distructive. The basic feeling of the song is this darkness we all carry around with us and we don't know why. The last verse is not about me, it's someone else's story.

oh, thats cool hush. thanks.

this is key

And there's a happy family snapshot when you were very small
But there were visits to the doctor, you can't remember what for
The curtains drawn in silence on a summer's afternoon
And the flies buzzing in the room
And you don't know what this feeling is and you can't explain it to me
But there was something in that family photo that you cannot quite see
And I don't know what all this means but it's just dripping through me
There's always something in the corner of our lives that we cannot quite see

i think i'd get along with whoever this person is. i'd love to understand what mad events led to lines 2, 3 and 4

p.s. i know i could google this stuff but i'd rather ask and learn than read and regurgitate

you think you're alive motherfucker?
you're just the walking fucking dead.

Heno, as much as I would like to, I cannot take credit for this

Stefanie225 has a wonderful web site full of info and lyrics.

Is was discussed last year. When you get to the list of songs, click each title to go to the lyrics, then click on the title again above the lyrics, many are stacked with facts.

Well worth whamming on your favourites list.

but yes, Someone like Jesus. Great great song. Its a typical NMA song that can stay in head for weeks. I think Dean Whites best keyboard work also.

until recently it was the finishing song of the best 4 songs to start an album ever

until it was pointed out that it runs all the way through that album

you think you're alive motherfucker?
you're just the walking fucking dead.

Another really good site for NMA facts, Janeks web site. Full of band member facts etc. Click on song debut, tells where and when each song was first played live. But, like so much Polish web space, its plagued by advert pop-ups.

 http://nma.prv.pl/

But, this, and the last one, and many more are listed on the NMA home page under links - then useful links.  ;)

I've moved the topic to here, as it seems much more appropriate in this section than in the Everything Else regions! Hope y'all don't mind...

Here's a link to the Polish site that doesn't seethe with ads.

Blimy Gaijin, how did you source that ?

I look at a lot of info sites from Poland, and just accept the pop up adverts, my blocker does not seem to be do anything about them.

Someone Like Jesus is a fantastic song.

When I first heard it I listened to it about 4 or 5 times in a row and it really scared me!

I think it's the darkness of the song and the nagging doubts that we all have about ourselves that the song exploits and pulls you in.

Advertising is the rattling of the stick in the swill bucket.
