Well, I'll go with PJ Harvey here.
Also a lady called "Nico" with Velvet Underground in late of 60's was awesome.
Björk is nice, very authentic.

OK... Amy Lee from Evanescence (big in the 2000's if you're not familiar).  Superb voice, great range.  This one is probably my favourite, 'Hello', an utter heartbreaker of a tune, about her sister who died at the age of three, apparently.

 I'm quite a fan of the singer/songwriter Anneke Van Giersbergen, she was the singer of band The Gathering then she has done lots of solo albums and various music projects...quite a powerful incredible crystal clear voice, i would love to see her live especially for her pop/rock/classical stuff (i'm less into her metal works)...:

Shirley Manson of Garbage

Patti Smith

Tess Parks does a lot work with Anton Newcome of Brian Jonestown Massacre.

 And to add another Sade  just love that voice and her mood of the music she chooses to sing not a Rocker but her style is Flawless. 8)

"Quite" a powerful voice???? What! One of the best female vocalists ever!  :)  Concrete Blonde are one of my favourite bands. A grossly underrated band. Their albums Bloodletting and Mexican Moon are fantastic.

I haven't listened to "Bloodletting" yet -and also to "Free" and "Mojave"- but it seems that for many fans it is one of Concrete blonde best albums, if not the best one...at least the only one which met commercial success.  There are some good tracks on "Mexican moon" and their first album, also "Walking in London"...but my favourite is probably "Group therapy" with songs like "Violent", "Valentine", "I was a fool"...here's Johnette playing "I was a fool" and it's quite thrilling despite the bad sound!!:

:) :) :) "Bloodletting" is one of my all-time favourite albums, the other ones aren't half-bad, either, though! I love her version of "Tomorrow Wendy" by Andy Prieboy!
