Love that song, and the album it is off takes we right back to the later 90's  :)

But, am I sentimental for the time, or for being in my 20's  :-\

BUMP!

Thought I'd resurrect this one seeing as I'm really liking the new Manics tune, the official Wales Euro 2016 anthem... 'Together Stronger'... best tune they've done in ages, IMO...

What do you lot reckon?   ;)

Following your recommendation MR, I've gone and bought National Treasures. It's great. I kinda lost track of the Manics after 'This is my truth...'.

So which of their later albums would be a good one to get?

Not so sure about the football song btw. But then again, I can't think of a football song that I actually like. Come to think of it I can't even be bothered with football anymore. All the corruption, violence and absence of any ethics has really put me off.

Glad you liked NT!  I think what I can recommend to you is whatever singles you liked from the NT album and go on from those indications...

But if you're after three albums that hark back to the varying styles of the 'classic era', I'd go with 'Postcards From A Young Man', 'Futurology' and 'Rewind The Film'.  All so different but great.  Here's 'Walk Me To The Bridge'....

Get back to me if you want to know anything more.

Thanks MR!

I like 'Walk me to the Bridge'

From NT, I really like 'Postcards from a Young Man', 'Your Love Alone id mot Enough' 'Empty Souls' and 'Indian Summer'.

I also like the track 'Futurology' which someone (probably you!)  posted a link to a little while ago.

So which of those three that you recommended would be the one to go for?

Well... if you only have the inclination to go for one of them... Futurology.  Very acclaimed, by critics and Manics fans alike.  To me, it sounds like a natural follow on from TIMT,TMY but with better tunes.  PFAYM might be a bit more commercial and RTF is a great chill-out album, but if I had to go one of the three I mentioned, that'd be my choice.  You can get it pretty cheap online.

New album next year, so check the lads out live if you get chance!

Thanks MR!

I'll go for Futurology for now. Would love to see them live but the chances of them coming to New Zealand are probably quite slim.

Ah, didn't realise you were in NZ.  Probably not gonna happen.  :'(

I think you'll love Futurology.  Did I ever post the video for 'Show Me The Wonder', from Rewind The Film?  I really like this tune...  Very different to the tunes you mentioned...

Anyone out there got anything else to say about The Manics?

I'll quess the nearest chances to see bands would be even in Wollongong or Canberra if bands do not go to New Zealand?

BUMP!

Seeing as the new Manic Street Preachers album popped through my letterbox, a day ahead of schedule, and I'm listening it to it right now, what's your opinion of this great band, if you haven't posted already (seeing as some of us have been posting about their opinions about The Levellers, Placebo, etc...)

The new albums a cracking good listen, BTW!
