Physical fitness
« on: July 21, 2014, 05:23:42 AM »

Does anyone regularly engage in physical activity?
Or maybe occasionally?

I do sort of obsessively.

Here is a rough idea of my work-out plan. I bike probably 3- 6 days a week. usually at 4 in the morning for 1-3 hours. I run at least two days a week (usually more) for about an  hour. I do the high intensity interval training while running. Whenever I can I do a 10-20 mile day hike away from civilization. I probably am doing some sort of vigorous activity 6 days a week. 5 at the least. I don't do weights but use my own body weight for resistance training.

Not only does this add years to my life but also keeps me from screaming out in frustration at people at work.

So what are you doing to stay active?

I never really enjoyed excercising for the sake of excercising but I realized a long time ago that physical activity does my mind and body a world of good. So I pursued a job that would be both fun and physical. A lot of my work includes outdoor activities such as sailing, diving, swimming and hiking on a daily basis. So it's a win-win for me but it was a conscious decision. I would go crazy (quite literally probably) if I didn't excercise regularly.

I tend to do more weights than cardio tbh. Enjoy cycling when I can. Running bores me rigid. Im long past playing sports etc. I dont think im super fit, but fitter than most of a similar age I guess.

Lots of power walking (and I mean proper fast walking, not going for a gentle stroll). About 3-5 miles per time, 4 or so times a week. As well as my job being (surprisingly) physical, that keeps me fit. I love it. Get really antsy when I haven't been able to exercise as much as I'd like.

I don't do much physical exercise, but I walk quite a lot... I try to do two or three miles at least three times a week, loading my MP3 player with tunes for the walk... nice to do when the weathers nice but not so easy to do when it gets cold in the winter...

It's keeps my belly from being 'full on fat' to 'slightly wobbly' so that's good enough for me and I regard myself as quite healthy... mind you, as a single man, I regard being 'quite healthy' as 'not dead yet'...   ;)

I could never do it without my MP3 player. I used to be obese so i tend to get a bit obsessed over it.

My MP3 player keeps me sane when exercising (and when using public transport!)

I've ranged from fairly unfit and a bit chubby to pretty fit and in decent shape. The latter is definitely preferable in all ways. It's not so much about how I look, but about how I feel. I looked fine when I had an extra stone or so on me, but I prefer this.
