London film showing pre film meet up on Sunday
« on: November 13, 2014, 11:02:15 PM »
Hello,

I would like to suggest the below place if you fancy a libation and a chat before the film:-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pillars_of_Hercules_(pub)

It's a quiet pub, unlike those ******* disco pubs so often found in the area and only 10 mins walk from the picture house.

Any indication as to who I may meet inside?

And of course I could recommend a few eateries in Chinatown afterwards.

See you there.

Cheers

Excellent Jack, I was just about to get in touch on the other place. We're gonna be there and of course the Pillars of Hercules is fine if that's where people wanna met up (although I thought the showing was at the Prince Charles cinema? - Same area mind). Count us in for Chinatown afterwards too, What time where you thinking for the pub? Showing is at 6.

So, who was there last night?  I enjoyed the film immensely (though it was a bit of a shame that the 90s and 00s weren't really featured), and the Q&A session afterwards was interesting and fun. I had persuaded my girlfriend to come along with me, though she's not a NMA 'fan' as such. She had some doubts about whether she'd enjoy it, but in fact she really did as well, which was a big bonus. So much so, that she was saying afterwards how lovely it was that both Stuart Morrow and Moose were there to see the film, and were in the little bar area afterwards chatting to Justin etc. It was interesting to see that Dom Joly was also in the audience, and asked a qestion in the Q&A, and was propping up the bar afterwards too. All in all, a very enjoyable evening  :)

Hello Tony, we had Hannah and her hubby Darren, Danny, Donia, Guy, Owen, and Jezza. We went for some food afterwards down the road which went down well.

It was good to see Moose and Stuart wasn't it.

Cheers

It was great to see Stuart and Moose. I don't think I've ever seen them in person before. I got to say hello to Moose as we were leaving the auditorium. As we got into the bar, I then had to almost squeeze past Stuart to get into the Gents !! We hung around in the bar for a little while, and Justin appeared too. I was wondering whether to go and say hello to Stuart, but he was busy chatting to Justin, and I thought they'd have a lot of stuff to talk about so we left then, and went for a meal in Chiquitos. Top night !

Ha, that reminds me of one of the oddest moments in my whole NMA gig-going history... it was at a JSAF gig in Newcastle Under Lyme, The Rigger, a tiny but brilliant venue... I was in the Gents, having a big old phone conversation with someone or other, when someone tapped me on the shoulder because I was blocking the single toilet cubicle... I was a bit drunk so I was quite prepared to say 'yeah right, whatever, stop mithering me, mate'... and when I turned around, it was a certain Mr Sullivan...

We didn't exchange words.
Rah! Rah! Rah! We're going to smash the oiks!
