going to bed to cry now (really)
If you've bought the train ticket and hotel already come down to Nottingham anyway, I'm pretty sure there'll be somebody with a spare (a real fan I mean, not a tout) in the pub and/or outside before the gig. Since the spread of Internet booking lots of people buy their tickets ridiculously early (some people up to a year before the event) and often get them for their friends/significant others too, only to then realise when the time comes they, or one of their party can't/can't be arsed to make it anymore. At the risk of jinxing it - to this day I've still always been able to get in to a gig I wanted to see, and without ever paying more than face value.
Of course, I you have to spend the money for travelling etc. I can understand you not wanting to take the risk, however small (I wouldn't either) but seeing as you've already got your train ticket sorted what have you got to lose?
