Well, this is new to me.  This has probably been asked many times but I'll ask it anyway; why would anyone carry out a "traditional" arson attack on a straw goat?!

It survives until the new year, is that when it's officially taken down?

Gävle Goat's little brother goat has been trashed this evening but the main one is still standing and currently has security guards.

Well, as far as the main goat is concerned I'm out now, but at the same time I put the 16th down so I suppose I can claim a half victory then!

Actually, it looks like the little goat was originally trashed on 4/12, but they re-assembled it.  From the picture on my twitter feed last night, the vandalism on 16/12 looked more terminal!
