Bye bye beard - for Little Princesses
« on: November 25, 2014, 09:27:37 PM »
This is not something I would normally do, but............

I am very attached of my flowing long facial locks – and they have been attached to me for about the last twenty years.
But I am looking at shaving all 12 inches (real inches not just men’s inches) off to help raise money for a local children’s charity.

Every year Young Gloves Karate (the club both my daughter an me are part of) holds a charity competition to raise money for a local children’s charity, chosen by the club members.
This year’s charity is the little Princess trust.
 http://www.littleprincesses.org.uk/.

The Trust provides real hair wigs to children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.
The wigs they provide are free to children.
As well as raising money for this charity various members and parents have donated 7 inches of their hair to be used to make wigs.
Being bald - this is something I can't do.
Now I am not proposing that they use my lovely beard for a wig!!
However, the cost to the charity to purchase one wig is on average £350 and I would like your help to raise as much money as possible towards this cost.

After all - my beard will grow back (maybe?) but some don’t have that luxury.

If anyone would like to sponsor me to this worthy cause I have set up a just giving page - www.justgiving.com/Phill-Skidmore/

Cheers All.

That sounds an honourable and good idea. It's not just movember (which is a nice idea though), not a trend, but much more.

I'd assume there's a notable amount of shaggy,  bearded  and hairy geezers here. :)

Fantastic cause - nicely done fella.

And if I ever get my hair cut off they can have that too!

Hi Anna

thanks for that - it's much appreciated.
Only a few more days now until it's gone - gonna be very strange, only a few people knew me without a beard.
Cheers.
