Been done before, but a long time ago.

Personally, I'd sooner re-start Jibberish's thread

i guess for eight is an album that has the best tracks 1 to 4 ever on an album
I don't know if they are the best four songs to lead of any album ever, but no doubt the first four tracks on EIGHT are a great beginning to any album. Very, very strong songs. Unfortunately, the rest of that album can't compete with those opening four tunes. "Paekakariki Beach" is the best song after those opening four. That "wheeling....turning...circling...flying" refrain is pure magic.

yeah, snelsmore wood stands out too. that said it is one of those albums by anyone that i can listen to from start to finish

other album that has such a stunning start is the love of hopeless causes. like who would expect fate after here comes the war.  and then follow up with living the rose and white light

crying out in fury to the gods of fate.....................come on and get me if you can

Morning  :)

If only you could all see how red in the face I am. It came to me in my sleep last night that I have also made an unwarranted claim to greatness. Harking back to the sound of my own voice again, in my first post. I said I was an NMA geek but I forgot about singles, ep's, 12” and the such like. Honestly, tut tut Anna. No doubt you all think I've been bigging myself up in a very arrogant fashion  :o

But then again the thread title says albums (but there all the different versions of albums, compilations, imports etc.....) and I wouldn't want to take the discussion beyond any defined parameters. I'm just all at sixes and sevens. I'm such a ditzy broad. I just don't understand this internet manners business. However if talk doesn't evolve we're just sat here listening to our own voices and not learning from what anyone else has to offer a debate. I don't know it's so confusing.  ???

Just In case though, Heno – still pondering your interesting development of this thread. The hows and whys of what makes for a “best” song is fascinating. Feels like there is a dissertation in that. Better fill the kettle up and buy a packet of biscuits my friend, you might need them.

Enjoy your Sunday everybody, hope its sunny and full of blue sky (warmth is probably a bit much to hope for) – I'm off to Archery, talk to you all later.

I thought it was the same album. It was way before my time so pardon any mistakes.
