Another Greek bootleg...
« on: January 20, 2015, 07:18:49 PM »
So, come then.  Reckon you all seen this on ebay and more recently over on Facebook.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301487912280?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Anyone care to guess what copy #1 goes for?  Does it even make it worth more if it's just some bloke in a dirty little room making them to order?!  Do I want one?  Yup!  I know it's wrong, and I know it's stupid, but I can't resist.  I need to get out more.... ;D ;D

Actually the bootleg and seller have been reported to ebay. Not that ebay give a flying monkeys about it, but we'll see.

But consider this: someone is systematically ripping off bands at a time when bands are finding it harder and harder to survive. Strikes me that bidding and buying these products only encourages these people. And it's not just NMA by the way, there were a lot of other bootlegs the seller was offering, so it's not just a one off: it's an on-going campaign. There are supposedly 100 copies of this "rare" vinyl - if he sells every one for £50 because someone is stupid enough to buy them for this price (and more), that's £5000. None of this goes back to the band. Remember that. None.

Just saying like ;-)

Having said that - I'm quite disappointed to have lost on the Gavle Goat (was that the second year running it survived?) and quite willing to entertain the possibility that someone will pay $83.23 for it! Anyone else hazzard a guess?

Its a big problem with copyrighted stuff. Ill never forget going to Bulgaria many many moons ago and street vendors selling copied cd's, in the days before cd copying was easily available. You gotta question what that money is funding as well.

A excellent well made point Viv and agree ebay should do something about people selling rip off products. I've complained a few times about the 'fake' nma t shirts for sale and yet there still there

I just don't see why people want to spend that much on a two song album but I don't get the whole obsessive music collecting thing. People will buy four copies of the same album simply because they collect music and they are different editions. Then not listen to it.  :o

But i am not a good judge as I don't own very many objects nor care to either.

I'm guilty of this

I've got 10 different copies of No rest For The Wicked on vinyl and I know there's more out there :) :)

Also have multiple copies of most albums, singles and Cd's :) :)N

Red, we are so alike!  NMA is not even my most collected band.  I have gone to town far more on another band that's it's too embarassing to tell!

That being said Viv makes a good point.  So much so that surely the band should be doing this officially to make some money occasionally?  Limited editions of 50-100, maybe more, made in the same way but officially?  They'd sell like hot cakes  :)  Fan club/forum series of live 7" singles......you know it makes sense  ;)  I'd be in heaven!

Come on tell me who

Send me a message if it's too embarrassing

Do you have any duplicates of NMA for sale

As for the NMA official limited pressings I too would be up for it but would be worried that I wouldn't get one.

LOL....Red, I'm not embarassed by who it is, more so the quantity of items I have!

Anyone owning up on the £75 Greek boot?  Wonder if he does 2nd chance offer to the second placed bidder?  I didn't bother.  I shall wait for the 4th or 5th one :)

Holy Crap!  :o
$114 for a fake bootleg? Poor guy or girl who bought this. This board could really use the face palm emoticon for this post.  :D

Then again it could have been 'bought' by a friend of the seller to artificially increase the supposed value.
