What a beautiful song,it's a band i never got into,my son was a huge fan of the band.........

If you feel like investigating Talk Talk then they're well worth it, yes some poppy stuff that might not appeal to you but tons of lovely tunes.  Recommendations available!  You know how I like to drone on about the bands I love, endlessly...  ;)

A sad loss indeed. Great to see that others on here also love Talk Talk. Possibly one the most remarkable musical progressions of any band. They left a lot of their fans behind when they emerged with Spirit of Eden (and went even further with Laughing Stock). I remember not liking those albums much at the time but I adore them now. Their influence on bands like Radiohead and Elbow is obvious. I was fortunate to see them live once on the Colour of Spring tour and they were fantastic.

Out of all the beautiful songs they have written, 'I believe in You' from Spirit of Eden is probably the one that moves me the most. A song to Mark's brother to try to encourage him to give up heroin. Sadly, he died of an overdose just after the song was released as a single.

Thanks for the music.

Aw, that's another sad one... loved what little I'd heard from him but never really scratched more than the surface... something I must do.

Ranking Roger from The Beat  :'(
Tonight, as you stare at the ceiling again
With your lover turning away
Disappointment closing in
Like the walls... and you try...
You try to talk about love
And they put their arms around you
But you still feel all alone
Wonder why...

Sad

Obviously people passing on brings sadness, but so can the death of a structure. Believe me, as a New Yorker I still feel sadness when I look to the south and don't see this any longer:

A personal 1  -  Billy Samson, a very talented local musician who took his own life age 42 in a very public way , strange from a quiet and introverted guy. Didn't know him that well but had spent time in his company a few times.  RIP a sad loss to the local music scene.

Billy McNeil  -  Celtic and Scotland legend , first British player to lift the European cup and by all accounts a great and humble man off the field.  RIP.

Aw, RIP Freddie Starr... not the most PC comedian ever but I saw him live a few years back and he was absolutely bloody hilarious.   :-[

I used to like Freddie Starr back in the day. R.I.P.

Doris Mary Ann Kappelhoff

better known as

DORIS  DAY

April  3rd,  1922  -  May  13th,  2019

What is most heart-breaking about her passing, is that

(as per Day's request)

there will be no funeral, marked gravesite, or public memorial.

'Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward,
for there you have been and there you will always long to return.'

'Just as courage imperils life,
fear protects it.'
